If the tail rotor stops, you're probably going to die. That's all I needed to know to avoid them. :thumbsup

munki 09-09-2009 05:59 PM

Whatever you do... don't get one of those minis... combine with a heavy drinking night, and then attempt to launch from your gf's head.

I'm told it ends badly.

Chosen 09-09-2009 06:12 PM

You can gyrate but you will have to pull up at an exact moment.

Make sure you go all the way to page 40 of Google Images to select a picture.

You don't want anyone here to easily find it on the interwebs.

Dirty Lord 09-10-2009 04:59 AM

wow, hahahhaha

okny 09-10-2009 05:11 AM

So when are we going to see the so called helicopter?

tranza 09-10-2009 05:55 AM

Altwebdesign 09-10-2009 05:57 AM

Yes its called a auto-rotation but its basically just gliding something planes can do too ;)

And its easiest with RC helicopters and planes :thumbsup

If you mess it up your fine :1orglaugh

Stephen McTowelie 09-10-2009 07:05 AM

I bought a heli a few weeks ago, a T-Rex 500. Even got an autopilot for it. Ordering my camera and LCD googles next week so i can do shit like this:

The whole flight is done FPV style thru the goggles.

No, I'm not a newbie to R/C helicopters. Been practicing the FPV flying on my simulator as well.

IIRC you must start auto-rotation while you've still got 85+% of revs, or you're going to be a rock. The time between engine dying and you hitting 85% of revs is a few seconds, maximum - so you've got to be able to diagnose the problem calmly and smoothly, and pull the lever to flatten the blades. Or you'll be a rock.

Or so my memory serves ;)

Yup basically you change the angle of the blade to almost negative pitch and they speed up as you drop and then at the last minute you "Flare" by putting in lots of collective (positive blade pitch/angle) and with any luck you wont hit the ground to hard :1orglaugh

Or you can try this upside down auto-rotation seen it in real life its extremely impressive but also expensive if it goes wrong.

I have a T-Rex 600 with a helicommand 3d :) Fun stuff. Also have several others, T-rex clones, Blade 400 with CoPilotII and a few other small ones.

Cyber Fucker 09-10-2009 08:11 AM

Congrats man on buying a helicopter! :thumbsup

Nice... I got the Helicommand rigid. I figured it may save my ass if I get disoriented or lose the video signal for a second. Also have a Cypher 3d, used to have the Trex 450 and a Raptor 50.

I dont really like the smaller ones, but my e-flite blade II is fun to fly in the house.

I've only ever done it in a real chopper, lol. The flare at the end is interesting. :thumbsup
