I love those old movies. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. While it's perfectly OK for hip-hop "artists" to use that word, blacks would take to the streets and burn shit down (probably their own neighborhood) if some white director remade a movie like this. :1orglaugh

This conversation came up amongst myself and some black friends in the last week. I asked why they don't get in an uproar and even use the word themselves. The answer is simple: it was a different generation and slavery ended.
In another generation or two it probably won't even be a negative word.
It may be because I live near a mixing bowl, but there isn't a lot of black/white, Latino/white, straight/gay in my little section of the world; it's just a bunch of people who are living their lives and trying to get ahead in life.
Racism/whatever doesn't seem to really exist in the under 30 crowd. It's only their parents and grandparents that keep it alive.
