Sin City is about to show more skin. A lot of it.

The 71,000-square-foot Sapphire Gentlemen's Club, billed as the world's largest strip club, is due to open Dec. 13 in Las Vegas.

The latest in a growing number of upscale take-it-off emporiums in the popular destination, Sapphire boasts four stages (one an elevated glass showcase) and 13 "skyboxes" affording a bird's-eye view of the action and a setting for private lap dances. Up to 800 strippers may undulate on busy nights.

The aim: to lure neophytes as well as nudie-show regulars as the city returns to its decadent roots. The $30 million complex ? to be unveiled with a splashy party at which David Spade, Tommy Lee, Carmen Electra and other stars are due ? boasts marble bathrooms, lavish décor and a steakhouse.

"From my research, this is the most money put into a strip club," says Las Vegas Weekly reporter Damon Hodge.

"When you walk into the lobby, it will feel like a Four Seasons hotel," declares Peter Feinstein, a Sapphire managing partner.

Sapphire, where entry costs $20, is the newest in "an absolute flood" of chi-chi bump-and-grind clubs in Las Vegas, says Anthony Curtis, publisher of the Las Vegas Advisor. The newsletter's www.lasvegasadvisor.com Web site lists 24 options for ogling topless dancers, including a dozen megaclubs such as 5-month-old Jaguar's.

Behind the trend, he says, are more convention visitors (4.1 million delegates in 2001) and Las Vegas' shift from emphasizing wholesome family fun ? "going back to the whole sexy thing ... the place to party and be uninhibited."

"People come to Las Vegas for adult entertainment," says Dolores Eliades, a Sapphire managing partner.

Celebs are hearty partiers. And women, especially those 21 to 35, are thrusting tips toward dancers' G-strings with regularity. "Going to a strip club with your (female) pals right now is a cool thing to do," Curtis says.

Olympic Garden, among other clubs, offers male dancers (a "Men of Olympus" revue). Sapphire will bring in beefcake for bachelorette parties.

During the city's '90s drive to forge a family-friendly image, "casino revenue dropped and so did upscale dining," says Lenny Butcher, a 28-year Las Vegas resident and ombudsman for www.LasVegas.com. "Finally, (local powers-that-be) said ... 'We're an adult playground and who are we trying to kid?' "

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority does not actively promote strip clubs. But plainspoken Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman applauds Sapphire and its ilk.

"We like to have the biggest and best of everything. We keep reinventing ourself, and it's exciting," he says. "People can leave their cares and woes behind here and not have their neighbors sticking their noses in their business."

Hotels are in the skin game, too, launching more revues with topless showgirls. Next, Butcher bets lodgings on the Strip will install their own strip clubs to staunch the flow of dollars elsewhere (lap dances can run $20 plus tip).

"It's a lucrative business," Butcher says. "The name of the game is money, and whatever (hotels) have to do, they'll do."

It won't be long before we see a Casino put a bunch of stripper poles right next to the black jack table.

Until everyone in Vegas is in one giant orgy, it's not really a big deal.

I will be coming in Jan 2nd - 12th.... When I was there last month .. All the cab drivers where talking about it on my way to Crazy Horse II .

Dugmor, thats cause they are gonna get between 20 and 30 bucks a head to bring customers to the club :)

The other clubs already kick back 10 bucks a head to cab drivers and limo drivers.. and Sheries ranch kicks back like 30% of the customers spenditures back to the driver as well.

I think I'm in the wrong business.

Oh, and did you know? A blow job at the ranch costs a grand? You add up the numbers for a full limo out for some fun. :thumbsup

Yeah, talk about a sweet affiliate program, but not for the bored driver, but for the pimpin' owners of the ranch that have all these "driven" recruiters, ehehe...

I wonder how much someone gets that refers a customer to a driver... for example the guy who opens the door to the cab.... hmmmmm the wonders of multiple level marketing !
