Apparently a lot of people, because he's a celebrity. You understand that celebrity means famous right ? As in, someone whose death would be newsworthy ? So that answers your other stupid question. How many thousands of people die every day ? Numerous, but they aren't as newsworthy. Note, newsworthy doesn't equal more important. Lots of people die. That doesn't make it less of a shame when someone dies, does it? We feel sad when someone we know dies, even someone we don't know well. Likewise, a celebrity is someone we know a little about, and recognize. As such, it has more of an impact on us than a stranger dieing, even though we don't really know them. Plus, if you are a fan of someone, it does seem tragic that you will never see their work again.

I really liked Glenn Quinn in Angel. The show hasn't been the same without him. It is a shame to know we'll never see him in something new. :(
