better question, what % of twitter users today will be embarrassed in 5 years from now that they where even using twitter?

as more and more people tune out ads and companies really care about clicks and conversions what will the real value of facebook be in the coming years?

ShellyCrash 08-26-2009 12:35 PM

Myspace will suffer the same fate as Friendster.

O MARINA 08-26-2009 12:37 PM

Heyyyy Dave
haven't seen you posting in a while

how are you doing

Machete_ 08-26-2009 12:37 PM

the same thing that will happen with Facebook 2-3 years from now, and the same that will happen with Twitter

Yeah same here. Twitter is great for grabbing new traffic. Quicker and easier than myspace in my opinion.

hypedough 08-26-2009 12:41 PM

Friendster, Myspace, same shit.

mynameisjim 08-26-2009 12:44 PM

Myspace said it is positioning itself to be a gaming portal or hub based around gamers.

I actually think that's a smart move. Not really the gaming part, but trying to niche the site a little more. I think the "general" social networking sites will never make money being free. The audience is too varied and the advertisers will never pay enough. If they go niche, the value to the advertising suddenly goes waaay up.

It's a gamble but it's better than the wait-and-see attitude of Facebook that believes it will magically start making huge money one day before another hot site just comes along.

Martin 08-26-2009 12:49 PM

Tons of pornstars on Myspace.

nikki99 08-26-2009 01:20 PM

I love myspace

d-null 08-26-2009 01:24 PM

myspace is waaaaay better for music, I go to myspace way more than facebook, and Twitter sucks balls :2 cents:

TheSenator 08-26-2009 01:27 PM

MySpace is filled with Porn Stars and bots.

I would turned MySpace into an adult social site and divide into niche dating.

Trend 08-26-2009 01:29 PM

It's interesting to me that Myspace still generates 5x the advertising revenue ( according to Forbes and TechCrunch )

That's so funny and so true.

You miss the fact that myspace does because of a huge bloated deal with google.com that ends and will not be renewed. Then they are down something like 65% of the revenue they had.

Semi-Retired-Dave 08-26-2009 01:49 PM

Between the Porn Stars and Rock Music it has, it would be a great mix if they can get all the kids out of the site and make it 18 and over.

crockett 08-26-2009 02:00 PM

It is amazing that the once dominant leader in social networking allowed themselves to become a internet trailer park. I guess this is how the social networks are gonna work.. king for just one day til the next new thing comes along.

I blame all the shitty themes and crap the morons would add to their pages..

I think their sluggish servers and software sure hurt them alot at a critical time as well

tigermtb 08-26-2009 02:26 PM

Yeah myspace is trash the pages are terrible.

Facebook apps are so bloody annoying that its killed the simplicity and useful-ness of Facebook.

With any luck, Twitter won't overcomplicate things and will remain useful.

I started hating MySpace when they got strict on out-going links. Protecting all the kids from adult material and the idiots who let their accounts get hacked by trying to log into myspace,upyurass.com

Princeton Cash - BANNED FOR LIFE 08-26-2009 11:00 PM

I think it should be a crime the way they let myspace go.

Their biggest failure was in not updating their code and design

Which means the math would come down to them still making almost double what FaceBook makes.

Voodoo 08-27-2009 02:47 AM

They will all merge into one giant goliath called TwitFaceSpace.com

NY Jester 08-27-2009 03:01 AM

I blame Tom for My Spaces downward spiral.

seeandsee 08-27-2009 04:01 AM

MySpace will go to Space

ShellyCrash 08-27-2009 04:50 AM

My biggest gripe with he site isn't so much lack of new things but too much freedom over what users could post on their profiles. Idiots started cramming as many videos, slide shows, glittery backgrounds and macros as they could on their profiles. Most of it copy paste code from other sites, if it doesn't crash your browser it will try and infect it. It seemed like if you went anywhere away from your home page or your inbox it stopped looking like a social networking site and more like a collection of geo cities pages.

CaptainHowdy 08-27-2009 04:56 AM

Hopefully MySpace will have a miserable death ...

Wizzo 08-27-2009 05:53 AM

I think the more important question is who will be the next king and who will own it...:winkwink:

gwidomains 08-27-2009 08:05 AM

MySpace simply COPIED friendster.com it's funny no one has mentioned that, Myspace's plan was to copy friendster. Facebook's and LinkedIn's plans was much different, and much stronger.

Myspace never had a growth / development strategy -- so ironically they helped Youtube to a huge payday, and then bought photobucket for 300 MM. They had / have no clue.

myspace is and has been awful for a long time. facebook is starting to add to much crap to it, hope they keep it simple. twitter is good for what it is, quick. evolving into real time search as well.

Deesnuts 08-27-2009 09:23 AM

it still has a lot of followers

C-Luv 08-27-2009 09:27 AM

I agree, Facebook was better a year ago and like you said. Now they let anyone sign up.

tranza 08-27-2009 10:53 AM

Zuckerman should've sold for the billion he got offered. Now they're spreading themselves way too fucking thin and FaceBook will definitely lose its novelty factor soon enough.

WWC 08-28-2009 02:01 AM

Depends who is behind it right at the moment....if they are smart, they must stay on top of the cutting edge in their market and products...must always tweak with the times i call it ;-)

DiF0r 08-28-2009 02:10 AM

it will turn into a tube
