How do you image capture in Windows XP?
Hello,
I upgraded to XP today and I'm no longer able to capture a still from an AVI or MPEG file anymore. It will not grab the actual picture that plays in the media player but rather just the black behind the video that is playing. I have no idea how to fix this, thank you for the help :) |
Anyone ever have this problem?

I had that with win 98 2nd edition. I have to do this:
Open the clip and pause where you want to cap it. Minimise the screen then open it again and then click on "Print Screen" Maybe it'll work on XP :) |
Virtualdub

get vegas video from sonic foundry, it do the work easily... pausing wont work.

SnagIt software - best out there, it will cap a pic from *anything*, even high-graphics video games. They've got a free trial, too.
Make sure to go into the options and set your hardware acceleration to none, read the site's boards and/or FAQs for any other probs you run across, they're all covered. |
get a box, and prop it up with a stick. Tie a piece of long string to the stick take the other end and hide behind a bush. When the image walks into the box. pull the string.
The stick pops out, and the box traps the image. You must be vewy, vewy careful to not let it get away though. :winkwink: |

I have adobe photoshop 7 and all I do is pause the movie on the frame that I want, hit print screen on my keyboard and then File-->new--->paste in photoshop and the image is there. I am using XP as well and have never had a problem. Let me know if it works out! Also I think you might be able to do something with the "Movie Maker" in Windows XP all thought I have never tried.

I've been using Snagit for years and then I upgrade to XP and it doesn't work.
I'll have to jimmy rig things here or just create a small network and throw the files to another computer and do the image capturing there. Just a shared folder between the two might be easier. |

you got it, I'm using the VirtualDub/SnagIT combo to get it working :)
A little slower but it gets the job done. Anyone know why Windows Media Player does not even work with XP? It always errors out and I ended up using RealOne Player to view movie files. |
