Wordpress Guru's Inside Now!

I have a mainstream site in wordpress and I was wanting to create a simple hit tracking system via wordpress to track clicks of people who sign up through the site to create an affiliate account and if I had a lead that closes I could tag it under that affiliate and give them credit for the sale.

I kind of think it would function something like below :

www.mysitename.com/affid.php?=nameornumber.

then it would have a backend-admin area where I could view and look at the clicks / leads each affiliate has generated and be able to credit them each time a lead closes.

Does something like this exist? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any available plugins like that, but you can have a custom plugin developed fo that purpose. It wouldn't be hard to make for someone who's experienced with Wordpress plugin development.

Does it need to be under wordpress?

I remember trying this one once ages ago and it was pretty good

Well, i don't guess it would really need to be based on the wordpress framework, but it would certainly have to be able to integrate with the current site in wordpress. As it was the framework for the current site. I basically just need it to track the hits, basic affiliate panel for stats and link codes etc could be housed outside wordpress. I am not selling products from the site, the goal is to get a visitor to complete a simple contact form with their details and be able to track the affiliate who sent over the visitor who submitted the form so they, in turn would recieve the credit for a lead that closes.

I could probably include the php snippets int the header.php file of the current theme and that could do the job of tracking the click, and if the software provided some type of form that would track to the affiliate I would be in the clear.

I agree, getting something done custom would be the best option, but I am moreorless looking for something that can just serve it's purpose for the time being, if I can get some decent traction on this I would certainly do something along those lines. But for the time being, keeping it very low cost and a turn-key solution would be the best option for me.

I did run across this, which seems promising, but looks like it is geared more towards products than capturing leads, so I would need to customize it / get the script author do something custom for it. Which is a pain in the ass, because half of these plugin developers never return an email.

Could be pretty useful on another project, just doesn't seem to be what I need.
