Starting a new teen site? **READ THIS**
 

I just came from a meeting with a senior compliance manager at Visa Europé. They are beginning to reject all new sponsored merchants? websites with the word ?teen? in the domain name. However, they will still accept sites with one of the following pre- / suffix in the domain name ?legal?, ?eighteen?,?nineteen?,?18?,?19? . Ie. legalteens.com, myteen18.com etc.

He did not know anything about if Visa USA will apply this, but he think they will follow.

So if you are about to start a new teen site; before you create a lot of promo, logos etc. take this in consideration! (If you want to accept Visa!)

How good for me that I am not starting a teen site.

These compliance requirements make so much sense. All illegal underage cp sites operate with domains with the word "teen" in them. I'm glad they are doing their part.

No, current sites that are registered sponsored merchant with an IPSP will not have to change domain name, unless they change IPSP and need to re-register.

That second bit is an "ouch"... grandfathering goes out the window if you decide to change who you do business with...
