Best thumb size galleries

What is the best thumb size to use when creating picture galleries. Each gallery will contain 16 pics... I have checked out many different galleries, but there really doesnt seem to be a standard. Any advice welcome..

Mix up the images around the content. Don't make 4X4. Maybe a 2X2 on top left and a 6X2 on the bottom. 140X185 works good for me.
