General Q -- $ Buying a GMC Sierra Truck

How much would offer a dealer cash for a $34k Truck?

DateDoc 08-22-2009 11:52 AM

I've seen local deals that were $10k+ off. Check out http://gm.ebay.com as GM has teamed up with eBay to sell cars.

So you think @ $24k? 34 is msrp

interesting, you can get such low price?

solopimps 08-23-2009 03:13 AM

Usually the ONLY way you'll get a 10k discount is if the vehicle has been sitting there FOREVER. Is this used or new??? I worked at different dealerships for about 2 years total and your "cash" offer is no different then you getting a loan, either way the dealership gets paid the same way, whether you bring them cash, or your bank writes them a check, they could care less. BTW, i highly doubt your 24k offer will work, you gotta figure that's only about 21k + Tax, title, and license, dealer doc fee etc etc. Good luck though!

GM is bankrupt

here in Manitoba Canada trucks $34K are listing in the paper new for $21K

and i'm sure you can haggle another one or 2 k from there

If you're going to be picky, it won't work. Like solopimps said, it would need to be something they have had sitting on the lot for a long time and need to get rid of. You won't get much of a discount beyond the standard offers because of cash. In fact, last year I bought my wife's Dakota and when I tried to pay with actual cash, they asked me to deposit it in the bank and have a bank draft made up instead.

That cash deal works on small used car dealers. The currently have 0% APR so your money is better off in savings.

Hmm, I'll see what happen.

Can you really get a brand new car/truck for as low as $20-30k? See that my Mazda 5 was $59k up here... :/

I guess it would be online some place but if you go to a local library you should be able to research and find the actual dealer cost of a vehicle. The numbers they list do not include what is called "Dealer Hold Back" a percentage that is paid out to the dealers at a later date. So if you pay what the "Dealer Invoice" says they are still getting something later down the road. Expect to pay a few bucks over dealer invoice most of the time but they do run specials at invoice price... when they do that they are of course getting more kickbacks from the manufacture.

Good Luck

I would not buy one of those for anything.. Ford has proven that they will be around for some time to come and that means that you can get parts etc.. I would with them or Mercedes or BMW or something else.

Hell I can get a Mercedes here for the same price as a Loaded F150. And even the low end Mercedes has leather 6 cd changer in the dash etc.

Time to buy a truck I guess. I have considered it off and on for years. I like to drive them.
