"HDR needs to go the way of the animated gif and blinking HTML text."

LOL shit that got me laughing.

That section on watermarks was made for Donnywrong. :D

The Arm?s Length Self-Portrait

"Yes, it is nice to have a picture of yourself and Aunt Suzy standing in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, but ask someone to shoot it for you. We are tired, oh so tired, of checking out your nostril hair."

Baddog, you listening? :1orglaugh

It happens every holiday. There hasn't been a good picture of people eating since "The Last Supper"

You are not Leonardo DaVinci

Interesting (if not thought-provoking) list, although I'd take exception to:

The watermark is either the sign of a newbie who doesn’t know any better or insecure photographers who simultaneously thinks their photos are better than they are and that everyone is out to steal them.

Or - its a marketing tool.

As one of those photographers who HAS had his images stolen and illegally used by others to make revenue for themselves - adding the watermark is not paranoia or delusions of greatness.

Yes, it sucks when someone steals your photo when they should have paid you for it. Send them an invoice.

Because everyone knows its possible to get blood from a stone, lol.

I think he means over-use of watermarks, small logo or watermark in the corner is fine IMO...

I agree about the watermarks, I keep it low key so that if an image does happen to be passed around or hotlinked interested people can go further...

Listing an item on ebay is another matter, you need to plaster your username all over it. :1orglaugh

OK list, though it's funny to see Wired bash watermarking (ESPECIALLY by saying crap like

So, Wired, is it ok if everyone steals YOUR photos?

Plus, they knock HDR when every issue they publish has HDR photography in it. :1orglaugh

Girls photographed with motorcycles, Cars and Guitars. It's cliched, it's boring, it does nothing positive for the girl, the car, the motorcycle or the guitar.

Matter of fact using a girl to sell anything (but sex) is generally a bad idea... try this

Show an ad with a hot girl to a red blooded straight male.....take the ad and ask him what the girl was selling...if he doesnt know...the ad is not effective.

Agreed. Ad with hot girl pouring whiskey, guy will say "mmmmm hot girl." Ad with bottle of whiskey, guy will say "mmmmm whiskey." Case closed.

The comment about watermarks was stupid.
