Actually New York has insanely strict gun control laws already and that is why he is getting 2 years in the pokey. I think you get one year mandatory for carrying an unlicensed firearm. Next time he should just hire a bodygaurd.

part of the reason for the 2yr sentence was probably because he carried in a public place, getting busted and shooting himself is just adding insult to injury

Yes, and that's a very important fact for everyone saying 2 years is to much. He was offered 3 months but turned the offer down. (how you prove you weren't carrying a gun but shot yourself I'll never know) Basically telling the district attorneys office to fuck off.

I heard today on a sports show that there is a report that a few months back Buress was offered a plea deal where he would spend 30 days in jail and he turned it down because he was terrified to go to jail. If that is true it was the biggest mistake of his life.

I think he felt like he would get on the stand in front of the grand jury and convince them not press charges against him.

While I think it may be a little bit of a stiff penalty imagine what he would have gotten if when the gun went off it shot someone else and killed them or crippled them.

I used to go to New York all the time and I never saw the wild west shoot outs you're talking about. I live in LA now and although, I've experienced shit, I wouldn't really go by Death Wish 2 or Colors to say that's how the city is.

Shit Boston was more deadly than either of this cities to me because of the crowd I was running with and the areas I visited. Which sort of proves my point.
