Myth? Getting backlinks from the same class C or even same IP won't boost your SERPs

I don't want to go into too much detail but one method of getting backlinks uses a CMS platform that allows users to put links in certain pages. This CMS only has a few (some claim one) IPs. They are apparently rotated. Many people are claiming that this boosts their SERPs. Assuming this is true, does this mean that the idea that your links (specially interlinking) should come from differing Class C IPs is a MYTH?

I think it depends on the host. If your multiple IPS are on the same netblock it may actually hinder you rather than being on what google sees as a shared IP [virtual or ipv6].

imho, you better start getting your seo in order.. google is really focusing on cleaning up the bullshit.. it may take a year or two's time, but i expect to see google putting an end to a lot of shenanigans....

no myth!

I use 18 different hosting companies, the safest way when interlinking.

I've never believed even having different C class is enough. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Not much point worrying about using same/different IPs if the WHOIS data of all the interlinked sites is identical, or they all use the same name server. :2 cents:

True, I've always believed the use whois lookups too, that's why I use privacy on most of my sites.

Nobody really builds huge networks on the same host and interlinks the piss out of them anyways, atleast nobody with a clue.

First the analogy: Some great quarterbacks come out of college, they are technically superior, real superstars out of Fla St. etc. They endorse big checks & hit the NFL. Season 1 they get intercepted by everyone.....Season 2 (the better ones) only get intercepted by the best. The ones that understand the way they think, who pick up the telegraphs. I.E. Darrel Green, Woodson etc.

Google makes life harder on the "shenanigan's" causers every fiscal quarter. However google tends to hire straight "math" guys & straight "programmers" to work with their algorithms, real super stars out of MIT & all the "poly techs", etc. They telegraph all their moves because they think like a fucking computer. Had they been invited to a few frat parties, done a few lines & maybe taken an art class they would be much better off.

It's not hard for a creative person who's quick on their feet to stay 1-2 steps ahead.

Now on to agreeing with you....
If you have "out of the box" scripts (that still "sorta" work now), forget about your income in 2010. You will see new ones come out every 3-6 months, but they will only last 60-90 days & are based on what amounts to exploits.

If you're lucky enough to have an employee/friend that's a pass intercepting superstar programmer....you'll be drinking beer at the victory party.

Fuck i love football symbolism.....come on & start the new season!
