Why are three letter words blocked?

I try to use the search function as much as possible on this board to avoid being redundant but three letter words are disregarded in the search option. So if I were to search for "cum shot content" it would disregard the word "cum" and only search for "shot content". I realize you are trying to avoid "the" and "and" but some other good words are three letters too! Is it possible to have this changed?

You're just annoyed 'cos you can't search for your own name :winkwink:

I agree, there are a lot of things that are three letters in porn. Searching for BBW and Fat (like, looking for content) I cant search!

i've found it to be annoying more than once..

My main business is with 3D stuff. Every time I'm looking for anything involving 3D I have to start a new post instead of being able to search and go through old ones that may be beneficial. :(

Yeah it would be nice to be able to search on some 3 letter words :) Can we try it for a week and see if it effects the server Len's ?? Please. Thanks.

Looks like this turned out to be a good thread to start!

FreeOnes 12-06-2002 11:18 AM

yes I noticed this too and wanted to post a thread like this before. It's very annoying that you can't search for 3 letter words, like icq, mp3, pda etc etc Everytime again I flip of this. :helpme

Please change Lens

Because this board probably uses MySQL version 3.23.x (the latest stable). 4 characters is the minimum.
See http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Fulltext_Search.html

Full text searches are also very limited with MySQL.
WHERE blah LIKE '%blah%' can't be used because that would take way too long on big tables.

MySQL 4.0.1 or up can do boolean full-text searches on huge databases but it will probably take a while before they release a 'stable' version.

Why not just use wild cards?

For instance, I just tried AVS* and it worked.

Am I being obtuse here?

I am pretty sure if you use an asterisk wildcard, it will only match things like "AVSsite" and "AVS1", etc. It won't match "AVS".
