Blue Screen of Death
My other computer sustained unrepairable damage so I bought and 18.4 in Toshiba. (I don't travel much, but I like to be able to move my computer around my home otherwise I never would have chosen one so large).
I've had that blue screen happen 5 times in two weeks. The warranty is only for 30 days, the only program downloaded was ICQ, everything else was loaded via virus free disks. It also has stopped recognizing the mouse until I do a system restore to a few days prior. The keyboard also becomes unruly calling for pounding on keys to make them work, but after restore, it works just fine. Is the blue screen usually a hardware or software issue? Would you exchange it or return it and just get a smaller laptop that is well known for not breaking a few times a day? I'm wondering if it's a problem with my model but google didn't yeild anything useful. |
Sounds like hardware. Rerturn return get a lenovo. :)

Are you on XP? Check drivers, or Reinstall XP, make clean install.

I'd return it and get something else. You may have gotten a lemon.

god i hate the blue screen! Yours sounds like it is hardware related but I too was getting the blue screen a few days ago :disgust
I have anti virus installed but i picked up a virus the other day that was caught quick but not quick enough not to be installed in key parts of my operating system. After it was fully removed i sensed that some of it was still left behind of effecting my machine so i started backing up my shit to my external. Well that is where the fun came in. If i tried moving large or many files at once it would blue screen everytime so i hat to move no more then 2 folders at once to be able to keep from getting the blue screen.. I reformatted and it's running fine but on another note I just ordered a new laptop last night to get something faster so I can't wait for tue or wed |
could be hardware could be software
for example if you have a logitech cam and didnt update drivers in over a year and plug in a iphone to your computer you will 99% get a BSOD can be tons of issues what happens right before the BSOD? My guess and this is just a guess is that the usb's are fucking up |
Blue screen? I haven't seen one of those in about five years. Sucks to be you.

The built in mouse pad and external mouse seize to work, and then the keyboard starts acting sticky like it has koolaid spilled in it and then I restart and it's fine.... I had to wait weeks to get this computer so if I return it, I'll have to choose a smaller screen without the karmon/hardon system (yeah, I know it's dumb to get tangled up in the screen size and sound system, but I live on the pc, I wanted the best one that suited my needs and "wants", but now it looks like I'm gonna get one that I can use for work. Any suggested laptops ...... PLEASE give me the name/model and keep it around 1000 and I love Macs, but can NOT afford to re-buy all the software for Macs so it must be a PC. Around 1000. I don't have a money tree. lol |

Just bought the wife a new 17" Toshiba laptop less than a month ago - and it has intermittent booting problems, too.
Sometimes it won't power up at all - other times it boots and runs fine. It's going back to BestBuy tomorrow morning. We bought Toshiba since my last Toshiba laptop lasted me seven years with not a single problem the whole time. |
