I got the skype app for my iphone I love it , they get push. I will be cutting my minutes in half. its well worth the 60 bucks a year.
I was talking over skype only once and person with who i was talking was Paul Markham.
I was wondering about his myself. I haven't had a home phone for years, only my cell and then of coarse skype for pc calls, but I wanted feedback on how it works for a home line vs. other services like vonage? Anyone?

I use Skype daily on a professional basis. I work on both sides of the Atlantic at different times of the year and I subscribe to the Skype-In service.
Basically I can have one or more local phone numbers, like one 214-number for Dallas, one 917-number for New York, and one number in London and one in Sweden. So my local contacts always have a local, or at least national number to reach me at and it connects to my computer or my cell. I probably handle 20-30 hours of phone conversations over Skype monthly and I'm satisfied. There is a small lag compared to normal landlines, but all the benefits of being able to pick up when I'm at a clients office well over shadows any such small downsides. I have an expense account on each project I'm on and wouldn't use Skype if it didn't perform well. Have a look at Google Voice when at it, it works very much the same but with new cool features like getting a transcript of recorded voice mails, being able to filter calls, and decide which phone to forward to depending on time of day and also depending on who's calling my number. A very nice feature and highly recommendable! |
Magic jack is really good and very real. I make calls in the usa and canada for $20 a year. Love it.
I use it all the time. It works perfectly.
Skype has made my life a ton easier. you can buy a local number to anyone in the US so they can get a hold of you. When i travel I can get a number in country. So my friends can call it and it rolls to my us cell phone. I can skype iphone whenever I am in wifi. I cannot believe how good it has gotten. In Brazil most of my 1st world friends have it and we use it just to say hi. Call their cell and they skype back.

I've used Skype for several years now, mainly for instant messaging though and sometimes skype to skype calls
on a regularly basis... skype rocks!
I've been using it for years. I don't even have a "regular" phone anymore, just my cell and skype. I make 90% of my outgoing calls via it, since I'm normally sitting at my desk anyways, just use a simple headset and the quality is second to none. Cost me about 20 bucks a year. Pretty much a no brainer.
been using it since it's inception, it's fucking great
yep. skype rocks.
been using skype more than my regular landline since I got it
I use Skype daily for conference calls with the Private Barcelona office.
I use it only for long distance calls (and that's not very often)...
Anyway Skype goes on court about their patents and it would be interesting to see what will happen. Here's the link to the story http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,536003,00.html |

As I see it, he will wither buy Skype back, or let it crash and launch his new competitive product |
