I just recieved a phone call from a religious organization regading porn on my domain
 

Just now, I had a guy call me, and he said he works for a christian youth group, and he said that this youth group that has 600 kids in it is called "Club P" and they are currently designing their website and they have told the kids and parents that the site is partially up, but alot of the kids are going to ClubP.com instead of ClubP.org(which is their actual site)

Well, I own ClubP.com and I had been redirecting it to one of my porn sites, and I guess these guys are getting alot of complaints from parents and kids that the domain they are going to has porn on it.

So this guy said that he would like to buy the domain off of me so he can redirect it to their site, but the organization doesnt have alot of money, so he offered to pay me the transfer fee for it, or maybe even $50. I told him I will think about it and call him tomorow

For the time being, I have redirected the domain to clubp.org
The domain gets a little type in traffic (not all from the christian group) but I had plans for it...What should I do? The fact that its kids going to the domain is what concerns me. I am not a fan of religion in general, but this guy did sound sincere, so I don't know. What you all think?

Its their own fault for not having enough foresight to check out who owns the .com's first. But if you're not really using it and can give it up, it may be a nice gesture and good karma

You can be a nice guy here and avoid problems you don't want or keep it and redirect it to a non porn site of your choice.

FYI: clubp.org right now has just a flash game on it, the guy say its still in the process of being designed, so untill then, they decided to put that up instead of a coming soon page. In case anyone was curious as to why that is on there

It isn't like ClubP.com is a really fantastic once-in-a-lifetime domain. All these people saying "It's their own fault" and that other shit are just being callous. Just because you were there first doesn't mean you _have_ to tell them to fuck off. Unless you've already invested in building the site, I say give it to them or make a deal to keep the domain and redirect it in case they go out of business or you decide to use it again at a later point.

I'm not that religious either but there are some things that are just *right* to do. Some of these guys would run over their own Grannie if they thought they could make a buck off of it.

the domain isnt developed yet. I did have plans of making it a paysite ClubP.com = Club Pussy or Club Porn...It's a easy name to market...so I liked the domain

I think redirecting the name is good enough, you don't have to sell it to them if you want to keep it. You did good. Glad to hear you chose that route.

I had a few domains that are cursed with underage type in traffic.

Its best to be a man and have some honor and just give the domain up if kids are hitting it.

As adult webmasters we cant do anything with that traffic and if they are in fact complaints, it will get you bad attention.

Just think about the kids, if kids are hitting that domain by type in, its not right.

I know what I would do... Keep it pointed at their site, but keep ownership. That way you don't get ripped off, and their kids don't get sent to a porn site. Also, if they ever pull their site, you still have your domain to do with as you please.

If you had plans for the domain that you planned on following through with, then I wouldn't sell it.
Also I wouldn't buy the "we're a religious organization we don't have much money" routine either.

BUT, I would put up a warning page on the domain with no pictures saying that this leads to adult content, and then maybe link the exit button to them.

Exactly what I was gonna suggest. I totally agree with Ian and Fletch. This has got to be the best way. The likelihood of someone actually maintaining their site for more than a max of 2 years or so is very low. Eventually they'll let their own site lapse and they'll disappear. Then you can develop it into whatever you fancy. In the meantime you are doing a good deed and keeping kids away from your porn sites.

Tell them you have plans for the domain, and that they should always check (and register) the .com version of the .org they plan to purchase BEFORE they register the .org.

ClubP is too good of a domain to just give up through redirection I think. Especially when they don't even have a site developed =(

I wouldn't give anything away anytime soon. Redirecting is nice enough. You can redirect for years if they are legit. If they last for years, you can sell it to them for expenses.

I'd correspond in writing if I were you. If there's a minister or church involved somewhere, he can write you a letter. You can also spell out terms very clearly.

clubp.com is memorable and short. That has some value to it and shouldn't just be given away because someone, even a nice kid, has made a phonecall.
