Nixon

I have been watching interviews of him the past few mornings at like 4 am. Long interviews with awesome conversations (Discovery Civilizations)

What do you think of this President?

Fletch XXX 12-05-2002 01:03 PM

The 28th hour of interviews is on.

Awesome look into Nixon, Nam, and Watergate.

ChrisH 12-05-2002 01:06 PM

It's been on one of the Discovery Channels the last few days. Interesting to say the least.

He seems like he was a very power hungry control freak, that didn't like desent.

Fletch XXX 12-05-2002 01:09 PM

Yeah Ive watched the 27 hours of it so far.

The final interview is on right now.

Awesome stuff.

He is finally going to address his resignation.

I like listening to things like that, gives an awesome look at things.

I was nowhere near a TV when this was recorded hahaha, its good to be able to see the interviews now.

Damn dude so have I...lol...I don't get to watch much t.v. but I try to watch a bit before going to bed.

Well he was popular at first then did a lot of really dumb things that a President shouldn't do. The Kent State students getting killed happened on his watch. To put National Guardsmen with Live Fucking Ammo on a college campus and then let them take out 4 students was one the most horrible things I remember from his era. After that it was all downhill for him politically.

I got to meet him at a restaurant in San Clemente as we were coming in he was walking out. He looked half dead already. Completely withered away from it all. But he was friendly and cordial to everyone in our dinner party that said hello.

Keev 12-05-2002 03:15 PM

I am sure you age real fast being the president with the stress levels and all the shit you have to keep inmind when making simple decisions that affect the millions if not the world

Fletch XXX 12-05-2002 03:17 PM

I think its a given Politicians do 'illegal' things.

I think Nixon was a good President.

'Bomb the bastards. Like they've never been bombed before.'

I'm gonna end that war. Fast.' - RN

heheh

Just the Village Idiot 12-05-2002 03:30 PM

Nixon was a good prez -- he'd have won relection in a second without one mistake.

'The Vietnamese cannot and will not Defeat America, only America can do that.'

Regarding the split country during Nam.

Awesome line.

he also arranged for hardhats to beat up war protesters, arranged for the DNC to be burglarized, threatened the big 3 networks with a monopoly lawsuit if they didn't give him favorable coverage, bugged all his staff's offices to make sure they weren't leaking to the press, and early in his career he was aligned with Joe McCarthy and the house unamerican activities committee.

he was a bad, bad man and NOT a good president unless you think Democracy, the constitution and due process is something to wipe your ass with.

As I said.

All politicians are dirty.

Its funny everyone freaks out when one is found out. He took the fall for a lot of people crimes I think.

Who else went down with him? Was it only him?

titmowse 12-05-2002 03:59 PM

go rent and watch "The Killing Fields". then come talk to me about Nixon. :(

dig420 12-05-2002 04:07 PM

History buffs probably noted the reunion at a Washington party a few weeks ago of three ex-presidents: Carter, Ford, and Nixon -- See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Evil. -- Robert J. Dole, speech, 1983

He is a shifty-eyed goddamn liar...He's one of the few in the history of this country to run for high office talking out of both sides of his mouth at the same time and lying out of both sides. -- Harry S Truman (about Richard M. Nixon, 1978)

Nixon's motto was: If two wrongs don't make a right, try three. ? Norman Cousins
