Graphix Guru Question

i want to use a CAD style wire frame model of a camera in a design. What software would be good to do this? I'm assuming some 3D software........is there somewhere I can get ready made 3D wire frame mesh models, no way i have the skill to 'create' a camera on my own.

thanks

Id go 3D Studio Max for software

you could probable find a free model somewhere or u could buy one from a place like viewpoint.... models rand from $25 up to ~$1200 depending on complexity/polygon count

cool site. thanks. most good ones are too expensive for a one time use in a web design though.

i'll look around the web for some free models.

not a bad camera on this page and can't beat the price.

now i have to go see if Studio Max has a trial version.

any cheap software that uses 3DS file format?

tons of resources.

thanks. This TurboSquid has what i want, i only need the wireframe look, though i do like those designs where you have a part of the object in wireframe part fully rendered

i'm now interested in this stuff, I see many of these models don't come with textures, that seems dumb, why can't they just include the textures they used to make the finished product look nice?

Glad you found what you were looking for at TurboSquid. Hey if you need custom 3D models made, hit me up on ICQ. We have someone here that does that stuff and I do it as well. Check out some of our 3D work from our mainstream site, and oh yeah I built our Strip Kittens girls also. :thumbsup

if you've never used 3d studio/max before don't use it for this project. Use poser..easier for a simple model design...don't get me wrong, 3d studio studio is the shit but more complex than poser...

railz 12-05-2002 05:39 PM

I'm not too bad with 3DS Max or Lightwave. Hit me up if you have problems and I'll see if I can help.

Mutt 12-05-2002 05:51 PM

thanks guys, i'm just going to do a 2D design but i like the wireframe look so i won't be needing a fully 3D rendered camera.

Poser is easier to learn than Studio Max. That's good to know.

is Poser fairly easy to get the hang of?

railz 12-05-2002 06:21 PM

It's not too bad, but the interface is kinda wierd sometimes.

I'd reccomend grabbing the Poser 4 + Pro Pack deal direct from their website. I've not seen Poser 5 yet so can't comment on it.

Jak 12-05-2002 10:41 PM

As far as I am aware, Poser doesn't let you do your own modelling, other then very basic stuff. Its main focus is on human models that are already built in (or you can buy others to put in). People also sell props, etc. for the scenes in Poser but they are generally created in 3DS Max and imported in.

If you're looking for a program to do simple models for web design stuff I'm not sure if Poser is what you'd be looking for.
