Forbes: The Challenge of User-Generated Porn

I apologize if this has already been posted. I saw it on another board and did a search here but came up empty handed. Anyway, it's a good read:

The Challenge of User-Generated Porn

Interesting read, and it echos a lot of what I've seen posted on GFY.

The economy is beginning to find it's legs. It will be slow, but recovery is on the way.

For better or worse businesses train their customers.

Example #1 ... Airlines. How many times have you seen an old person struggle to get their baggage to the ticket counter. Not only do the airline employees not help, the customer has been trained NOT to expect assistance.

Example #2 ... Fast food. Now they hand you a cup and you get your own drinks.

Example #3 ... Porn. We have stupidly trained a whole generation NOT to pay for our product. WTF?

.

amateur will be the next big take off again, like the tubes but pure amateur or live streaming amateurs

Some see tube sites that abuse copyright as either outliers or unsustainable. "I don't see where the money is in uploading pirated videos to a free site," says Sarah LoPrinzi, market research director for XBIZ Research. "Are you going to brand it with a logo? It's not going to last. Chances are, someone is going to say 'cut it out' at some point."
What an idiotic comment.

interesting :thumbsup

i love that looking forward to youtube case

even though youtube has been quietly extending fair use to the point where they will completely immune to any take down request.

parody has been extending to including doing nothing more then changing the subtitles on a movie

commentary is almost extended to "look at my favorite dance routine"

under those two legal precedents alone youtube could completely ignore every takedown request with no consequence.

shut up gideon !

am i wrong

those rulings are a public record you can confirm them yourself.

only a complete moron would look at the youtube viacom case and expect a change in the favor of copyright holders.

each little win is followed up with a bigger loss.

and it is only going to get worse.

you have to stop wasting your time praying that the government is going to roll back the clock on the next vcr and figuire out how to profit from it instead.
