Who likes Krispy Kreme?
We have several here in the bay area and that doughnut burger thread got me thinking of taking a quick drive. I have only had their doughnuts a couple of times and not recently and I don't know what their coffee is like, but it might be worth the effort and fun to get out on a nice afternoon here.
Anybody have one in their area? What do you think? |
i would like them more if they didn't have all that glaze shit on them.
I havent had one in years. From what I remember the coffee was ok.
They are really good nice and fresh, we have several here..
They are good but they closed all their stores here.
I have heard people post here about Dunkin Donuts before and Tim Horton's. We don't have any here in the SF bay area that I am aware of. I would like to try them.
Of course these are the big name outfits. We also have the usual independent coffee and dougnut shops that you find scattered liberally throughout any locality. Here's a good one for those who like the round treats, how do you spell yours? Is it donuts, or is it doughnuts? On another note......which spelling tastes better? :1orglaugh |
I grew up in the home of Dunkin Donuts - in fact my parents used to get donuts at the FIRST Dunkin Donuts ever (no one here probably knows that there were two brothers who started the business, and they had a falling out, so the second brother opened a shop called "Mr. Donut" a couple of miles away, and the donuts at Mr. Donut were *much* better lol). Before I moved to Cali, Dunkin Donuts had expanded so much that there were at least two of their stores per mile, in any direction, from my house - there are actually some places where there is a Dunkin Donuts ACROSS from a Dunkin Donuts (I'm not sure if that's where Lewis Black came up with his bit about a Starbucks across from a Starbucks :1orglaugh )
Having said that - Dunkin Donuts can't compare to Krispy Kreme. It's like comparing McDonald's to Ruth's Chris :winkwink: (I understand, though, that the coffee at Dunkin Donuts is by far the best....I don't drink coffee, though, so I can't speak to that one.) |
The Krispy Kremes around here all closed up. Kwik Trip gas stations still sell 'em.
most of them closed around here too
Best donuts around if you ask me = )
very good donuts, terrible terrible coffee
That's like asking if you like Penguins, or Vince vaughn.
I like the chocolate topped ones with the whipped cream filling.
too much sugar :2 cents:
All of them around me closed
the question should be: Who doesn't like Krispy Kreme ?
One of the best and doughnut we have here in our place.
sweet, delicious but expensive doughnuts. :thumbsup |
Dunkin Donuts is coming back to my state this year I think :thumbsup
me like krispy kreme.. :upsidedow
Well I did get out for a drive but I didn't go the full distance to the local Krispy Kreme shop. I went to a closer outfit with a bunch of shops locally called Rolling Pin donuts. The coffee was decent and the glazed buttermilk bar was delicious.
I have heard as posted above that the low carb movement wasn't to good for the bigger donut sellers and some shops were closing or they just weren't opening shops at as fast a rate as planned. The economy isn't helping either. I think the Krispy Kreme stores here do a good business though. We also have some stores that sell them. I suppose if you put one in the microwave for a few seconds it would taste as fresh as if you bought them at the donut shop. |
I don't like them at all. I can't understand what the appeal is. I like regular donuts.

The urge gives me the impetus to overcome my guilt and have a donut but it seems I get the urge when I'm not near Krispy Kreme. There two that are about 20 min from my house, so next time I'm near one I may just say to heck with it and pull in to check them out. |
They closed them all around here when their customers got too big to fit through the door.
That's like asking, who likes tits?
I like them but don't eat them because of the amount of shit in them. Leave one on the counter for a few days and they're still not hard... :(
Overrated, but they're decent

Is Krispy Kreme one of the US delicacies that has made it to Thailand yet? |
I'm not fond of doughnuts!
I haven't had any Krispy Kremes in forever. After finding this thread I'm going to have to go out and buy some!
They are becoming incereasingly available in the UK and the couple times I have had them they are okay but very very sweet. I would take Dunkin Donuts over them any day but I am not allowed to have either these days.

Tescos have them and now just about every major London train station has a stall.
After all the fuss I heard about Krispy Kremes I was disappointed when I finally got to try them . I prefer Dunkin Donuts or the ones you can get from Mom and Pop's bakeries. They are always the best.
Mister Donut ftw!
Krispy Kreme is overrated, but still decent. |
We used to drive 40 miles 1 way to get them.. But get the coffee at Dunkin Donuts.

Their stuff is good but I think Tim Hortons has better coffee than any other place.
