What do Hustler and Penthouse pay to be in the magazine?
 

I was just told the most ridiculously high number. Go ahead and estimate on the high side. What do chicks get paid to appear in those 2 mags?

somebody's bullshitting you - girls who appear in the magazine get nothing other than whatever the photographer paid them. The centerfold/cover girls get paid direct by the magazines and it's not a ton - maybe 5K for Penthouse Pet and not sure about Hustler, 2,500-5,0000

You only get paid if you're a celebrity or involved in a major scandal. The rest might get a small fee. But they make their money usually with what comes after getting that title such as dancing and escorting.

Booking fees vary based on who you are and who you know. For example a Vivid girl may get slightly more than just a normal porn star.

Mutt is dead on. I think that price will fall as well. The magazines sales are way down. Being a Penthouse Pet does not mean what it used to either.

Some magazines I have shot for paid the girl directly but most, including Hustler do not usually.

Usually the magazine purchases the layout from a photographer who paid the girl whatever he negotiated.

Regardless Hustler used to Pay around 2500 for a centerfold Penthouse was 3-5K, but this was before the magazine sales went into the toilet, most magazines now get their layouts for free from adult video companies as a promo item...which further explains why magazine sales are in the toilet...pornchicks as adult magazine layouts are generally boring.

If magazine sales are in the toilet how come they can pay up to $5,000 for a set non exclusive when this market pays $500 for exclusive?

I wish I had more in the toilet customers like that and less of the incredibly successful sponsors the business has buying content. Most of them have stopped buying.

For shooters who can sell to magazines it's still a very lucrative market.

Most magazines buy when they see a approve the work. If you send them a drop dead gorgeous girls they want to shoot for themselves they give you a finders fee and her a plane ticket. If you insist on shooting her yourself they will tell you to, reject the work and contact her direct. unless you did the type of job their shooters will.

Playboy, Penthouse and Hustler, in that order, are the main ones for submitting girls to. Unless they know you the email might never get opened. The money these people pay they have all the established shooters they need and trust. You never see them spamming the boards for new shooters. Even the top ones do on the Net, short of good enough shooters, can't hold on to the ones they have or looking to buy content cheaper?

2003/2004 is when magazine sales really started taking a nosedive. At our stores we used to get around 200-300 copies of Hustler each month, and they were usually gone before the 2nd week of the month. Little by little sales slowed, and by 2003 we quit buying it directly and used a magazine vendor, since we were usually sending 100 copies back to the vendor each month for credit.

By late 2004 we cut back to like 50 issues of Hustler and we were still sending a few copies back each month, but by 2005 we literally couldn't give Hustler away, and no matter what anyone says Hustler far and away was the best selling adult magazine title in any of our stores. I can't imagine what sales must be like now that I'm out of that side of the biz, but I know more and more adult stores are cutting out carrying new adult titles completely, and instead sticking to selling the old magazine packs where you get 3-4 various older titles for $7.99 or so. Those will always be a good value for a guy that just wants a mag to beat off to and they generally toss them in the trash when they are done...
