A true artist is Robin Williams.

Come see Ari Shaffir at my next Naughty Comedy Show at the Melrose Improv, it's August 29th and we are honoring Jenna Haze!
Ari is better known as the Amazing Racist, look up his clips on the web, you'll get a little chuckle out of him. |
I think the people saying Robin Williams are going by what he used to be, and not what he has become. His old stuff is brilliant, but Robin Williams really hasn't been funny since he quit doing coke. His old stand up routines were high energy and smart humor, but now he is relegated to doing bad movies about RV road trips, and every time I see him doing stand up on some charity Whoopi Goldberg special he has become kind of a hack...

Lee Evans is one of my faves!

If you have Netflix, check out Sam Kinison: Why Did We Laugh? Very well done. |
Gotta love Bill Hicks, still love watching his stuff

I called a detox center - just to see how much it would cost: $13,000 for three weeks! My friends, if you can come up with thirteen grand, you don't have a problem yet.
-Sam Kinison |
He followed in his father's footsteps as a Pentecostal preacher before becoming a comedian. Recordings of his sermons reveal that he used a "fire and brimstone" style, punctuated with shouts similar to the ones he would later use in his stand-up routines. He attended Pinecrest Bible Training Center in Salisbury Center, New York. After he and his first wife were divorced, he left preaching and took up comedy as a profession.

i dont think jay leno or david letterman are *AS* funny as pryor, carlin, etc, not even on the same level.

Billy Connolly.
I first saw him on film in the "Secret Policemen's Ball" concerts for Amnesty International, and finally got a chance to see him a few years ago at the Wilshire Ebell. (He says he can't sell tickets in L.A. because nobody wants to see him. Ha.) Sumbitch stood on stage and free-associated for about 90 minutes, then ended with a pre-planned routine. I did not stop laughing for two hours. They don't get better. --t |
Louis CK is pretty funny
