How many days can you stand having house guests?
My in laws have now been here for three weeks. They are actually good people and my dogs love having them and their dog (who they bring with them) around. I am really longing to have my house back though. How long can you take having house guests. Even those you actually like?
2 days maximum depending on who it is.
I can tolerate most people for 2-6 hours. |
3 days!:thumbsup
Female I really really like -- can stay as long as she wants.
All others -- probably a week tops. Those with weird hangups and annoying quirks or are just plain hard to get along with -- a few hours then they're out the door. |
2 or 3 days maximum
zero to two, depending on the person.
Depends on the person, some I can't stand and get rid of them ASAP. Others can stay as long as they like.
The real question is how long can they put up with me? |
3 days the first time they come, after that I usually can't stand them anymore
Depends on how needy they are, and whether or not they clean up after themselves. One night tops for freeloader slobs. Maybe 5 nights for decent guests. Perhaps as long as 10 nights if they are generous neat freaks, who spend time playing with my pets. That's the limit however.
House guests are like fresh fish... after 3 days they begin to smell.
No longer then a couple of days
3 Hours. I hate having ppl over.
They told us yesterday they are going home Sunday ..yay. We give them our bed when they visit because it is better for an older back. Which means that we have been sleeping on a futon for weeks now. Just having my own bed back would be nice.
1 week maximum for me :-)
that's also the longuest time I could stay at a host. |
A weekend...
2 days is good..
I frequently have family coming over from England for visits, and as they are family (and I like them) I do not mind how long they stay. They help out with the kids, cleaning, cooking, etc. which really helps out.
My Dad is coming for two months at the beginning of September -- and I am really looking forward to having him, as he is an excellent cook and great with the kids :) |
I can't stand ANYONE staying in my house for ANY LENGTH of time.
Ou...nice Quest...? depent who is... but maybe maximum is 3-4 days... i like to be alone a little bit...

You know, IMO, house guests are like Fish....max 3 days then throw them out :1orglaugh
I always like having people over. I've had people stay 6 months. It's always more fun with more people. Don't like to be alone anyway.
I don't care as long as they don't get in the way, the more the merrier they say :)
if it's family, then as long as they want
Friends? 3 hours.
Family? No worries. |
Being that all of my recent house guests have been my kids friends spending the weekend but the end of the first day I am usually ready for them to leave.
I like when people come over.. I think i don't care about how long they will be around...
I will sacrifice for only 3 days and 2 nights max.
In-laws would never qualify as guests.
10mins max. 15mins if i'm in a good mood.
3 days.
Just had to give the smack down to friend that seemed to be slowly moving in. We didn't even realize it until after the fact, but he stayed here at least 5 out of 7 nights, was doing laundry here and there and had a tooth brush in one of the bathrooms. Had to have the "we're not a hotel" talk. Hasn't spent the night since. I am open to people staying longer, but we have to offer it to them, not the other way around. It depends on the person as to how long they can stay here, or more importantly, how long we can tolerate them being here. |
a long uncomfortable 3 -days tops. I like hanging out with friends but would much rather they get a hotel as i would do the same for them.
Oh, I should say that if it's family/friends vacationing in my area and they don't want to get a hotel...they can stay for the duration of their trip.
I just hate it when friends have their own home, but like mine more and would rather stay here. |
2 days tops....
1 week is the max

3 days is enough. |
There is always someone here. Right now one of my friends is in the kitchen on her laptop screaming about something she's trying to download, two teenagers are in my pool, and two more are riding around on the golf cart.
Everyone I know either has a key to my house or knows where I hide the spare one. I never lock the doors if I leave during the day, anyway. Almost every time I leave the house, there is someone here, and every time I come home, there is someone here. People migrate in and out on a daily basis. Even when I'm not here. |
don't have a guest room so she'd have to sleep in my bed. Guys = 0, hot girl = 1 night then GTFO
not long, maybe a few days.
i used to a lot of people around

I was a houseguest in NZ for ten days earlier this year, and I didn't think I'd be able to do it. It actually worked out really well, I was surprised. |
if it's a friend that doesn't need to be shown all the time where things are and can at times just kick it on his own doing things a little over a week. if it's a guest that wants to be shown around town and you pretty much schedule your life around them being there... fuck 2-3 days MAX. Even if those 2-3 days are a great time it still beings to just get old and you just want some time to hang out in your place alone or with just your lady or something.
other than my parents 3-4 days max
