How many days can you stand having house guests?

My in laws have now been here for three weeks. They are actually good people and my dogs love having them and their dog (who they bring with them) around. I am really longing to have my house back though. How long can you take having house guests. Even those you actually like?

Barefootsies 08-05-2009 03:40 AM

2 days maximum depending on who it is.

I can tolerate most people for 2-6 hours.

mrxxl 08-05-2009 03:41 AM

3 days!:thumbsup

CDSmith 08-05-2009 03:41 AM

Female I really really like -- can stay as long as she wants.

All others -- probably a week tops.

Those with weird hangups and annoying quirks or are just plain hard to get along with -- a few hours then they're out the door.

blonda80 08-05-2009 03:57 AM

2 or 3 days maximum

cherrylula 08-05-2009 06:06 AM

zero to two, depending on the person.

Paul Markham 08-05-2009 06:35 AM

Depends on the person, some I can't stand and get rid of them ASAP. Others can stay as long as they like.

The real question is how long can they put up with me?

David! 08-05-2009 06:37 AM

3 days the first time they come, after that I usually can't stand them anymore

BFT3K 08-05-2009 06:44 AM

Depends on how needy they are, and whether or not they clean up after themselves. One night tops for freeloader slobs. Maybe 5 nights for decent guests. Perhaps as long as 10 nights if they are generous neat freaks, who spend time playing with my pets. That's the limit however.

Qbert 08-05-2009 06:50 AM

House guests are like fresh fish... after 3 days they begin to smell.

VeriSexy 08-06-2009 02:53 AM

No longer then a couple of days

Calico Jack 08-06-2009 03:31 AM

3 Hours. I hate having ppl over.

Sarah_Jayne 08-06-2009 04:05 AM

They told us yesterday they are going home Sunday ..yay. We give them our bed when they visit because it is better for an older back. Which means that we have been sleeping on a futon for weeks now. Just having my own bed back would be nice.

rvincent 08-06-2009 05:11 AM

1 week maximum for me :-)
that's also the longuest time I could stay at a host.

CaptainHowdy 08-06-2009 05:13 AM

A weekend...

Roby 08-06-2009 05:38 AM

2 days is good..

Twistys Tim 08-06-2009 07:01 AM

I frequently have family coming over from England for visits, and as they are family (and I like them) I do not mind how long they stay. They help out with the kids, cleaning, cooking, etc. which really helps out.

My Dad is coming for two months at the beginning of September -- and I am really looking forward to having him, as he is an excellent cook and great with the kids :)

candyflip 08-06-2009 07:01 AM

I can't stand ANYONE staying in my house for ANY LENGTH of time.

bbobby86 08-06-2009 07:39 AM

Ou...nice Quest...? depent who is... but maybe maximum is 3-4 days... i like to be alone a little bit...

What about yourself? :winkwink:

Topbuxom Lea 08-06-2009 08:18 AM

You know, IMO, house guests are like Fish....max 3 days then throw them out :1orglaugh

Konda 08-06-2009 08:18 AM

I always like having people over. I've had people stay 6 months. It's always more fun with more people. Don't like to be alone anyway.

natkejs 08-06-2009 08:22 AM

I don't care as long as they don't get in the way, the more the merrier they say :)

bloggerz 08-06-2009 08:40 AM

if it's family, then as long as they want

BradM 08-06-2009 08:45 AM

Friends? 3 hours.
Family? No worries.

Vicious_B 08-06-2009 09:25 AM

Being that all of my recent house guests have been my kids friends spending the weekend but the end of the first day I am usually ready for them to leave.

tranza 08-06-2009 10:06 AM

I like when people come over.. I think i don't care about how long they will be around...

StaceyJo 08-06-2009 10:38 AM

I will sacrifice for only 3 days and 2 nights max.

baddog 08-06-2009 10:40 AM

In-laws would never qualify as guests.

Scott McD 08-06-2009 10:42 AM

10mins max. 15mins if i'm in a good mood.

epitome 08-06-2009 10:43 AM

3 days.

Just had to give the smack down to friend that seemed to be slowly moving in. We didn't even realize it until after the fact, but he stayed here at least 5 out of 7 nights, was doing laundry here and there and had a tooth brush in one of the bathrooms.

Had to have the "we're not a hotel" talk. Hasn't spent the night since.

I am open to people staying longer, but we have to offer it to them, not the other way around. It depends on the person as to how long they can stay here, or more importantly, how long we can tolerate them being here.

mvee 08-06-2009 10:45 AM

a long uncomfortable 3 -days tops. I like hanging out with friends but would much rather they get a hotel as i would do the same for them.

epitome 08-06-2009 10:47 AM

Oh, I should say that if it's family/friends vacationing in my area and they don't want to get a hotel...they can stay for the duration of their trip.

I just hate it when friends have their own home, but like mine more and would rather stay here.

martinsc 08-06-2009 10:50 AM

2 days tops....

iXxX 08-06-2009 11:20 AM

1 week is the max

Good to see I'm not the only one unsocial person.

3 days is enough.

Holly 08-06-2009 11:39 AM

There is always someone here. Right now one of my friends is in the kitchen on her laptop screaming about something she's trying to download, two teenagers are in my pool, and two more are riding around on the golf cart.

Everyone I know either has a key to my house or knows where I hide the spare one. I never lock the doors if I leave during the day, anyway. Almost every time I leave the house, there is someone here, and every time I come home, there is someone here. People migrate in and out on a daily basis. Even when I'm not here.

derrick1 08-06-2009 11:40 AM

don't have a guest room so she'd have to sleep in my bed. Guys = 0, hot girl = 1 night then GTFO

Denaz 08-06-2009 02:19 PM

not long, maybe a few days.

Deesnuts 08-06-2009 02:44 PM

i used to a lot of people around

I get that alot here, people come for dinner and stay the night or a couple of days, or they wander in and out all the time. Which is good, someone can play with the dogs while they're watching my Tivo ;)

I was a houseguest in NZ for ten days earlier this year, and I didn't think I'd be able to do it. It actually worked out really well, I was surprised.

bDok 08-06-2009 03:09 PM

if it's a friend that doesn't need to be shown all the time where things are and can at times just kick it on his own doing things a little over a week. if it's a guest that wants to be shown around town and you pretty much schedule your life around them being there... fuck 2-3 days MAX. Even if those 2-3 days are a great time it still beings to just get old and you just want some time to hang out in your place alone or with just your lady or something.

getmouthy 08-06-2009 03:29 PM

other than my parents 3-4 days max

I agree. Heck, I can't wait for my housecleaning folks to hurriedly do their job, and leave--I like my privacy.

quiet 08-06-2009 04:14 PM

i had people from Montreal up to Whistler for 7 days just two weeks ago. then we went to Vancouver for a couple more, so it was around 10 days total. worked out well...

DirtyJumbo 08-06-2009 04:28 PM

If it's a hot chick she can stay forever...
