Yahoo looking into REAL TIME search
Now that they have outsourced their search to Bing, some yahoo honchos are looking into real-time search by "mining" twitter: http://www.reuters.com/article/inter...57000F20090801
Given the explosive growth of twam (tweet spam), it's gonna be interesting how they can filter worthwhile info from the noise... Plus, hitching their fortunes to the destiny of Twitter (which might still prove to be the Digital Pet rock of the late 2000s) might be too risky... |
twitter full of spam, so they will get nothing
|
wow that would be shit
|
lets hope they do it as i have some good spam in there they could pick up. :)

nice idea from yahoo

Bad idea unless they're going to filter the results real hardy and intelligently. There's so much noise to deal with

Yahoo and MSN have been total disasters in the search engine market when it comes to fighting Google and taking market share from them. They have to hype everything up because at the end of the day, PageRank beat all other primary methods of sorting pages (HITS, SALSA etc). They aren't going to catch Google... they aren't going to revolutionize or change the search marketing or search engine game.
It's just not going to happen. Merging the two search engines using the same engine simply means creating a larger loser. Not a new winner. Anyone ever notice that Google is NEVER putting out press releases talking about how they are going to get better at search results? There is a reason for that... they don't need to and they don't need to convince people they are accurate. |
Yahoo is being run by a bunch of idiots :2 cents: <--- hope they mine that comment in real time :1orglaugh
