If you remember ALL Advantage.com then you are a pimp!
10 years ago an Internet based company created an unique milestone when they introduced "Get Paid to Surf the Web," a phrase that has since become synonymous with a wide array of online ad revenue sharing systems!
I received one check for like $200 bucks, second check I never received and that was that. :) That was how I started. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AllAdvantage |
Way way back...

I remember that, I think there was others before them as well.
All failed bigtime |

I remember alladvantage, and I remember the little script that would move your mouse around at random times so you could be "surfing" all night long lol.

Hah. I started out cheating All Advantage, iWin, epinions, etc etc. The reason I learned how to program back then was to emulate their software. :winkwink:
Packet Sniffers (IRIS) and Visual Basic was all you needed back then, there was little to no security on those things. |
hahahahahhahahhaha nice thread. Back in the days

I started the first day AA began its program and joined every other get paid to surf program that launched in 99. It was definitely the era of venture capital and internet startups simply trying to amass members, many with no real plan for profit. By the end of 99 I had over 100,000 referrals spread out over about a dozen programs. I would open up lots of ad bars simultaneously and surf the web, usually making over $40/hr to do so because of the amount of referrals I had. My gfy nick came from that time.
In March of 2000, it all came to an abrupt halt, when tech stocks crashed and the vision of an IPO for many of these get paid to surf companies ceased. In the end I got stiffed by many of the companies because the ad revenue stopped quickly and they couldn't pay out money owed. One of the first programs was Epipo, which was started by a company called 180 Solutions. They failed to make some payments at the end that they had stalled on for months. A group of us took a complaint to the Washington State attorney general, who then filed charges against 180 Solutions. They reached an agreement to payout about a third of what was owed. Its only been recently, looking at the timeline and history of Zango, that I realized why 180 Solutions was withholding all the Epipo payments. They were developing the beginnings of Zango at that time and the needed the money to launch it. As much as the end left a bitter taste in my mouth as all that effort went out the door, I credit much of my success in adult to the online marketing that I learned while trying to amass referrals for the various get paid to surf programs. |
Hahaha I remember them.
|
Yep I even made a little application to make my mouse move so it seemed I was active
|
I pushed BePaid hard when I first came online. I didn't use the pay to surf programs because of the 14k dialup. :)
