Tubes - Traffic Down Across the board - recession or ??? (stats)

http://newbienudes.com/images/tubes.gif

Most of the tubes are showing they have peaked in terms of traffic middle of last year. I am thinking this is a result of the recession, but it could be that people are getting bored of tubes?

What are your thoughts?

brassmonkey 07-31-2009 03:29 PM

why u looking in their pockets hahaha

IllTestYourGirls 07-31-2009 03:30 PM

Redirecting shit countries? What would a recession have to do with the traffic being down for free porn sites? Other than people not being able to afford getting online?

Yeah, maybe less able to afford being online, or more likely something like less time for porn as they want to keep their jobs so are working hard when at work instead of jerking off?

NewbieNudes 07-31-2009 03:39 PM

Forgot youporn so here it is.

MikesTraffic 07-31-2009 03:40 PM

the sites arent smaller, the internet is just constantly growing, so while they are still doing the same number of visits, there are newer sites on the web that are doing more

Yep understand that but they have gone from growing faster than the whole "net" to growing less than it. So something fundamental has changed.

SCORE Ralph 07-31-2009 03:57 PM

You can also argue that many ppl started jumping on the tube bandwagon a few months back and the traffic is being diluted around. Add a few other tube sites to the mix.

marketsmart 07-31-2009 04:01 PM

There's more tubesites now than homeless people.. of course things are going to get diluted a bit...

katharos 07-31-2009 04:02 PM

recession - cheaper whores - no needs for wanking

Ron2k1 07-31-2009 04:16 PM

Alexa still shows growth

tonyparra 07-31-2009 04:25 PM

most tubes are boring. surfers want better entertainment for their niche. ive seen only a few tubes with real entertainment most are just a list of free videos with banners. while this will impress most free dumb surfers, the dumb surfers with money will get bored.

alias 07-31-2009 04:27 PM

Bored with the web, it is summer. For reference the aquarium business dies in summer too.

You're looking at the wrong tubes:

tube8.com youjizz.com xhamster.com empflix.com keezmovies.com

http://www.nametrader.com/chart.jpg

The only thing changing is that while there was only a handful of them before, there's dozens and dozens now.

exactly, surfers are smart enough to find the ones that give away the most and start to stick to them and word gets out, the sites that "fuck the surfer around" and try to shift towards a "legal tube" format will lose out...... the sites with full siterips for free will attract the most traffic :upsidedow

My thinking is they moved to other Tubes. Shown later in the thread.

The only stats that matter are the number of surfers who buy going from a Tube to an advertisers sites. The rest is useless unless you're paying the hosting bills. It's the stats on your bank account that matter.

The other thing is how recent they are re all those who blame Tubes for the industries decline.

TheDoc 07-31-2009 09:02 PM

What are those screenshots? Old or some country break down or something? Why not post what google trends actually shows?

http://www.google.com/trends?q=tube8...e=a ll&sort=1

http://www.google.com/trends?q=tube8...e=al l&sort=1

Youporn isn't taking a drop, it's still up along with redtube. tube8 is the only thing with real recent growth out of that list. None of the other tubes compete.

Keep dreaming the dream...

Tube8 seem to have the best encoding quality of all the Tubes out their. Now the bandwidth prices are approaching $1/meg more and more tube sites are going to up the encoding quality of the videos

greg80 08-01-2009 12:04 AM

this is not traffic. Google trend does not show traffic, they show search trends their graphs do not represent traffic at all. Check out alexa or compete for that

San 08-01-2009 01:05 AM

maybe they stopped buying feeder traffic?

Jack Sparrow 08-01-2009 01:18 AM

Its summmer people are on a holiday fucking their wifes and that stuff.

btw. i didnt notice any particular slowdown yet.

EscortBiz 08-01-2009 01:36 AM

many here laugh when i say this but when the avg surfer now has 20+gigs of porn already on their computer to jerk off too they tend to look a little less for new stuff

The graphs are pretty similar on Alexa tbh. Those were by clicking "websites" on the Google trends page so not sure it is supposed to be simply those sites as search terms, but I don't use trends much. Just figured it would be a good example given the OP was using it to try and say traffic across all tubes are down.

It does show traffic! It shows search trends by default but there is a "websites" option which shows traffic. Get your facts straight.

The exact graph I posted above, showing youporn & retube

http://trends.google.com/websites?q=...e=a ll&sort=0

I could have posted the URLS but I posted screen grabs to save you guys the effort.

Ever since Alexa changed a few years ago and seemed to "lose" all their historical data which went back to like 2002 I rely on google trends more.

I trust Google more than Alexa, they have way more data one could safely assume.

Klen 08-01-2009 03:59 AM

Google trends i think shows only search queries so i don't see sense to use it as growth display data.

CunningStunt 08-01-2009 04:11 AM

Trends is wildly inaccurate.

I have a site which has grown by 300% this year, and it shows as just remaining level over the last year. Total nonsense.

I have to confess to laughing at that statement too, i think you think porn surfers are rational human beings. Once someone is hooked on smut and has 20 gigs worth they are looking for more unless they just run out of space. It's almost like saying a crackhead with 20 rocks to smoke is going to turn down more crack just because he has some already. :2 cents:

Jack Sparrow 08-01-2009 05:59 AM

How old are those "accurate" stats alexa is using again?
I mean, how many days back ;)?

The crackhead with 20 rocks in their pocket may turn down more crack if they have to pay for it :2 cents:

I agree with Escort Biz

Unlike years before, many people now have a warchest of porn videos sitting on their harddrives. When u are in the mood to tug one out you may not want to waste time surfing for new porn TO BUY and just surf your harddrive collection until you find a video that hits the spot. I know it works for me :winkwink:

Some times you are in the mood to look for new stuff and add to your collection, sometimes jerking off to the 20 gigs you already have works - no need to surf the net or pull out the credit card :2 cents:

V_RocKs 08-01-2009 10:40 AM

The internet grows over time. So if some site stays at 1,000,000 hits a day it will appear to be tapering off in Alexa since other sites are coming on and Alexa is a representation of your share of the whole.
