Wow- $719 for Los Angeles/ Miami plane ticket

and that is if I leave at 6am.
even couple weeks ago they were in the $600's hoping they would lower, guess not.

I've done my research - to no avail - any advice on where to check for tickets that might be lower before I book this puppy in? Of course biz is worth the ticket price- I'm just standing on principle right now LOL.

if you can't afford to go, don't go

Sosa 07-30-2009 05:27 PM

damn that's pricey

RyuLion 07-30-2009 05:29 PM

Last minute decisions cost $.
but then again, there's last minute discounts..

scottybuzz 07-30-2009 05:31 PM

Try Skyscanner.net, i picked random dates in August and got these prices:
http://www.skyscanner.net/flights/la...gust-2009.html

baddog 07-30-2009 05:33 PM

Wait . . . you thought the price would go down the closer you got to the departure date?

LOL, sometimes they do with last minute specials. I couldn't book specific dates until I have things covered on the home front. Not that I can't afford it, just a big change from last few years. Even last minute, I don't recall ever hitting the $700 mark. Maybe the $500's.

I'm sure economy, etc plays a roll. No biggie, just noticed since I travel so much and that price stood out as a WOW :)

but see you in Florida for sure :thumbsup

MadisonMadness 07-30-2009 05:39 PM

try "name your price" on priceline. i've gotten some great deals there if you are flex on the time of day you fly.

I have not found any flights that have gone down in price to anywhere I fly. I know flying to Chicago costs me twice as much as it did last year.

And no, you won't see me in FL. I don't do FL in August. Of course, I will be in D.C. about the same time and I doubt that will be much better.

sorry to miss you in FL. Yea, Chicago is my hometown and always a challenge through there sometimes. O'Hare esp. Midway better for pricing.

Have fun in D.C. :)

abshard 07-30-2009 05:46 PM

Southwest,if its more then 14days away you can probably get each way for around 150

leave on the 25th ($99) return on the 31st ($109) plus taxes

lax to Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Mine is $119 each way leaving at decent hours. :thumbsup

It's not cross country though...more puddle jumping than anything.

If the weather stays the way it is, you're going to hate it here. It's not too hot but the humidity is a killer right now. It's the typical mid-Atlantic summertime weather that people try to escape from. It's been weird this year though...may be under a cold front by next week.

I actually called someone in South Florida today to see if it's any better there. They all love to rub their weather in come February but are cussing up a storm by this time of year.

It seems to be nicer there than here right now. :disgust They win again. Bastards.

Due 07-30-2009 05:57 PM

Mine was about 1400 USD in total from Barcelona, now stop crying! :disgust

epitome 07-30-2009 05:59 PM

Abshard makes a good point...

Lori, try to fly into Ft. Lauderdale...it is almost ALWAYS cheaper and the Diplomat is probably a few minutes closer to FLL than MIA, anyway.

Should jump on that.

Kard63 07-30-2009 06:18 PM

Probably would have been a convenient time with only 1 stop for $300 if you bought them 3 weeks in advance.

Will be there on the 9th, so if you could have it chilled by then it would be appreciated.

TIA

Yeah I like the non-stop red eyes so I sit down, pass out, wake up and I'm there!

PersianKitty 07-30-2009 07:04 PM

Hell.. I went first class non-refundable last year for $750 from Seattle to Ft Lauderdale. If $719 is coach.. that's sad.

SleazyDream 07-30-2009 08:08 PM

welcome to the prices I've ALWAYS had to pay to goto adult shows....

Have to change planes or just a layover? I try to do non-stop everywhere. I have such rotten luck (aka: airlines suck) when it comes to connecting flights.

had a change of planes in ATL.. not many non-stops from Seattle to Ft Lauderdale. It was Delta.

Flight down was no problem. Flying back.. we were delayed by storms and a flight crew over their hours and got pushed back a couple of hours. They rebooked my connecting flight in Atlanta while I was still in Florida. I barely made it to the gate. Was very surprised that my luggage did.

C H R I S 07-30-2009 08:23 PM

Damn the prices went up quick - we booked a few weeks ago and got it around $289 RT.... Good luck on the hunt and see you there (maybe before ;-)

Yeah, changing planes and dealing with Delta is not a good combo.
