Schumacher Returns !!! OFFICIAL !!!!

Ferrari have confirmed seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will make a sensational return to Formula One to stand in for Felipe Massa.

German driving legend Schumacher still works for Ferrari as an advisor, but after Massa's shocking injury in Hungary he will now get back behind the wheel once again.

Although the idea was originally rubbished, Ferrari have confirmed that Schumacher will come out of retirement to replace Massa - provided he passes a fitness test.

"Ferrari intends to entrust Michael Schumacher with Felipe Massa's car for as long as the Brazilian driver is not able to race," a Ferrari statement said.

Bring him on, Lewis Hamilton will destroy him. Been praying for this day since Lewis came into F1. I'm sure Lewis is on vacation rubbing his hands at the prospect of destroying that German mofo!

Daruma 07-29-2009 10:59 AM

I'm gonna laugh so hard if Schumy finishes ahead of Lewis :1orglaugh

We should have a bet on it ??

Don't get me wrong, Ferrari have been shit this year, and i doubt even Schumy will get anything special out the car. But he is the greatest, so you never know... :thumbsup

DaSandyMan 07-29-2009 11:08 AM

as much i hate schumi... im sure he ll do well few races this year ... could give him appetite for next year...
And seriously hamilton cant even compete lol
i think its a good thing for the brawn tho they will profit of a strong schumacher to keep their lead at the championship.

Yeah i lost a bit of interest in it after he was gone. Just didn't find any of the other drivers as interesting to watch as him.

I wonder if he still has that old magic. Nobody overtakes like Schumacher... :winkwink:

Care to wager $50 on that? Valencia Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton WILL finish ahead of Schumacher. Baring no crashing out or disqualifications.

Guess you didnt watch the last race eh? He was heard on his team radio crying "how can my car be so bad"

Jenson Button isn't the best driver, he's not even in the top 6. He simply had the best car and took advantage. Now the best Drivers are getting better cars and are showing him for what he truly is, an average F1 driver.

you can't be serious...

hjnet 07-29-2009 11:49 AM

Drivers are nothing these days, Schumacher was an outstanding driver, and he will still do quite well, but 90% of speed comes from the car, the remaining 10% might be the driver...

quiet 07-29-2009 11:50 AM

no argument there. it's 95% technology, maybe 5% driver.

TheDA 07-29-2009 11:52 AM

Have the FIA accepted this yet or is this just a proposal that they are putting to the FIA. He'll need to get a licence from them. That said, FIA do seem to support Ferrari :)

I'm deadly serious. Schumacher hasn't driven a F1 car without traction control for over 12 years. There is no testing outwith specified test dats 2 days before the race. Ferrari currently don't have a good car. He hasn't even driven an F1 car since 2008.

Do you need me to go on? I hope you don't honestly think he is going to walk back into a car and be his old self again? I am not doubting he was a legend when in the sport, probably the greatest we will see in our life time but these young guys nowadays are finding ways to attack these corners in modern cars much quicker. Lewis Hamilton will destroy Schumi.

Manowar 07-29-2009 02:08 PM

He will never lose his driving skills. Just a pity the Ferrari car has been shitty this year, so he can only do so much i'm afraid.

People talking about him winning race after race is taking things too far and not realistic to be honest.

If he does a steady job for the team, maybe picking up some points along the way, then nobody can ask for any more. Wouldn't actually surprise me though if he actually out performs Kimi... :2 cents:

SilentKnight 07-29-2009 03:14 PM

People counted George Foreman out in 1994 against Michael Moorer.

We all know how that went.

You are crazy.. Hamilton started with a good team and car and has done well, but he is no where near the caliber of a driver M. Schumacher is. Do not forget Schumacher took two teams whom were under dogs to victory and championships.

He drove that POS V8 Ford and won two championships before he ever came to Ferriari and when he came to Ferriari that team sucked. He made Ferriari a winning team once again.

Schumacher brings much more to the table than just driving the car, hence the reason he is the best.

Lewis Hamilton - a rookie with McLaren in 2007 gained more points than his team mate Fernando Alonso, who at the time was the DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION! The same Fernando Alonso who had destroyed Schumi for the previous two seasons. Alonso and Hamilton were driving the same car. Some of you guys don't realise what happens in Sport. The older legend retires, a new young whippersnapper comes into the sport, who WILL be the next legend.

Its the way it happens. Again I am not taking anything away from Schumi, he was simply incredible in his time. The fact he never won the title in his last two seasons tho tells me he should have retired way before he did.

Seriously thinking about booking a flight to Valencia and grabbing some tickets for this race, its History in the making.

l0lf4c3 07-30-2009 01:57 AM

if the car doesnt give up, Schumi will win. traction or not, tests or none, its the old lion bellwether preparing for his last fights...

mOrrI 07-30-2009 02:00 AM

lets see if he still has what it takes

i was never a huge Schumacher fan, but he's still driving cart on charity events and regularly beats actual F1 drivers. and carts are still the best school for all drivers - with no technical help like traction control or servo steering at all.

do i think he will win the race? no, the Ferrari isn't good enough this year.

do i think he could still win if he had a competitive car? for sure

lol.... i think f1 is great to watch if you wanna catch some extra sleep, its boring as fuck. But i remember barrichello, he was such a crybaby, letting schumacher pass him whenever he got the order.... he never said 'fuck it' and just win it himself...no cojones!

After Airton Senna F1 will never be the same....

Barrichelo races for Brawn GP still. It was his car that the Spring came off and smashed Felipe Massa on the head unfortunately.

yup your right the car controls everything right...this isnt some ferrari with automatic and full traction control, its a race car. its more like 95% driver 5% car...you can have the fastest car on the circuit and not be that great of a driver...however your place in the race will reflect this.

Sarah_Jayne 07-30-2009 06:46 AM

If he is going to do a Michael Jordan he better come back fit and ready.

You are forgetting that Hamilton had the best car those two years. Yes he did a great job, but he also made some dumb rookie mistakes which is to be expected. Look at F1 this year and what has Hamilton done? He's been beat all year by a brand new team and only won a single race.

Now that Hamilton doesn't have the best car on the grid he's not doing very well and he's 2nd tier at the moment to Brawn & Red Bull. The thing is even when Schumacher had a bad car or a bad year he still won races.

BTW For being over the hill.. M. Schumacher still won 7 races in 2006 his last season, so I really don't see where you are saying he was doing bad.

lol, are you serious? F1 technology is only surmounted by fighter jets. man/machine hybridization. hahaha. dude, i respect and enjoy your posts, but this is just hilarious.

Altwebdesign 07-30-2009 06:56 AM

all the f1 drivers are pretty much of the same skill level, the top 22 drivers in the world.
The difference comes that when you make a f1 car that goes round a corner at 100mph and your rival builds a car that can go round a corner at 101mph then no matter how good of a driver you are, your car will only go so fast, so your rival gets the faster lap time!

Are you dumb? You're really saying because Lewis is struggling to compete with a car his Team Bosses told him was almost 1 second a lap slower than his competitors that he is a shit driver? Is that what you are saying? You cannot make up 1 second per lap no matter how good you are man.

I guess in 3 weeks time we will all find out what the deal is when Hamilton and Schumi start the race in Valencia.

Deesnuts 07-30-2009 09:47 AM

cool beans

iXxX 07-30-2009 04:30 PM

Michael would never want to race again if he felt he was not " up to it " it should be great seeing him race with the new stars.....just enjoy the moment.
