why? the man paid his dues, granted i do not agree with what he did, but the legal system punished him, the NFL punished him and believe me, if you think whichever team he ends up on the city wont have some kind words for the man, youre foolish....

personally, i dont care if he plays or not...just as long as he doesnt end up on my team...god knows i have my hands filled with TO this year and all his foolish crap....

but he paid his dues, and is now a free man....let him be....if he truely learned his lesson, he wont make the mistakes of the past...if he does he'll end up back in jail and his career will be over....took a second time to finally get OJ...

SO with that said...Why not allow Pete Rose into the Baseball Hall Of Fame..

apples & oranges....

Mike Vick did nothing to change an outcome of a game
Pete Rose bet on games he could "fix"...had it been just gambling on sports he didnt have control over...no question

as for athletic ability....Pete should be in the Hall Of Fame....

personally, let him in....its not like all the steriod monsters with their homeruns wont be in without even an asterisk....

kristin 07-27-2009 02:55 PM

If it were anyone else other than an athlete or some type of icon, their ass would still be in jail or they'd never have another decent job again. Vick gets to make millions, this seems right?

If you are gonna fuck up, pay the consequences like anyone else would.

My favorite was when the NBC sports interviewer guy asked Pete Rose on live TV to just admit what he did.

Right on...If it were you or me that did that we would still be in jail..Just another rich PUNK THUG..

BigRod 07-27-2009 02:58 PM

I just think allowing him back into the NFL makes a mockery of the personal conduct policy and I think it tarnishes a once very respected league.

I have heard the argument he has paid his debt and I agree, he should be allowed to walk free. I don't think he should be allowed the privilege of joining an elite organization like the NFL it should be a privelage not a right. I also don't think he should be permitted to own a pet store but again just my opinion.

It's sad how much it happens ... Martha Stewart is another one of my favorite examples.

not entirely untrue....celebrity jail time....but in reality, what would a "citizen" get for what he did?.... life...hardly...a few years and then released...most likely....

making millions?...hardly....there will be a smaller salary, there will be fans of the team pissed hes there, there will be cheap or not so cheap shots taken on him....it wont be a gravy train...and believe me i am surprised that even i am spouting off to give the guy a chance....but he did what the law said he had to do, what the NFL had him do, and for a country that is suppose to be so forgiving and "christian" (ok, im not in the least...read sig)...so quick for ppl to just nail him to the cross and let him rot...

Barefootsies 07-27-2009 03:01 PM

All this shit over a dog(s)?

Um yeah. Sorry. I still, even now, fail to see why someone should be 'locked away forever' or any number of other remarks in that regard for what he did.

No. I do not condone animal crutelty. But the end of his career? Life long, or draconian prison sentence for it?

Nigga please.

There are far worse criminals out there daily getting slaps on the wrist for actually harming HUMANS! Get a handle on that shit first. Then go spend tax dollars worrying about the other species.

:disgust

Go Cubbies!

Thats right. When I was in the 1st Ranger Bn in the 80's we had a code of conduct that we HAD to live by or else...If you got arrested you were sent packing...I saw it happen to more than a few people. I had to send a few of my guys packing after getting a DUI..And thats just arrested NOT convicted..

Sorry but I happpen to be Draconian in this sense.... Stick his fuckin ass in a cage and let him and someone else fight to the death.. if he says no, then shoot him in the leg and give one person the unfair advantage to make them fight...

:2 cents:

This goes for crimes against other humans too, if you rape someone, your gonna get raped, if you kill someone with intent, your ass gets shot..

Sorry if this sounds harsh... but criminals will stop committing crimes then.. hopefully

surprising the GFY ppl are showing more morals than most American politics nowadays....ok now i know the world is coming to an end....

and if the NFL, NBA and MLB all want to come full circle and actually put morals back into the game,id love it....why not the NHL...umm..cuz they still believe its a team sport....here that TO, Ocho, Kobe....TEAM sport

I think we should round up slaughterhouse employees all around the world and put them into a human meat grinder. LOL :upsidedow but then who is going to do the killing for me?

Let him get back on the field. Its a team sport, so I'm sure that either his own teammates or the others will let it be known what they think of him.

would love to see him meet up with a shark or two while out swimming or something like that :2 cents:

The NFL is full of wife beaters, drug abusers, and just plain ole thugs.

So, you're going eat the dogs he killed?
Are you going to eat them in a rich, hearty stew or on top of a sesame bun with some condiments?

ottyhotties 07-27-2009 06:28 PM

When you limit felons/criminals from certain kinds of employment it's for a reason. For instance sex offenders can't become teachers and be around children after a conviction. I'm sure we all agree sex offenders shouldn't be able to become teachers because of a sex offender's possible recidivism and the awful threat they would be to children. What threat is there to NFL players if Micheal Vick throws a football on a field of play? There's no threat; he served his time and paid his debt to society so let the man play the game of football.

Regardless I don't think Vick can make the transition back to professional level football. You can't take that amount of time off and get it back in my opinion.

SNRProductions 07-28-2009 02:28 AM

I think he paid his dues too. Let the man be a backup QB. It should be interesting to see where he ends up.

hypedough 07-28-2009 02:28 AM

Fuck him, he was a mediocre QB anyway. He can't see over the linemen, he admitted it himself.

brassmonkey 07-28-2009 07:35 AM

4 years for killing a damn dog is crazy

Cutty 07-28-2009 07:51 AM

He paid is dues to society, all of you saying he should have gotten way more and blah blah blah bullshit bullshit blah blah shut the fuck up already. He killed some dogs, served time and is now past that shit.

Exactly. Even if an everyday person somehow pulled the same bullshit sentence for the same crime that conviction would be on their record forever and would seriously impact their future employment opportunities.
He didn't just kill one dog, he systematically tortured and killed animals over an extended period of time. He would still be doing it if he didn't get caught.
And I really believe that if someone posted the exact same story about any Joe Smoe everyone on here would be calling for their head. Who cares if they guy can play football, it doesn't give him special privileges to be a sadistic fuck.
And I also believe that anyone caught out in professional sports for criminal behavior should be treated like everyone else and pay the same price that any one else would.

Boozer 07-28-2009 08:37 AM

his little brother is even better (according to mike) and even bigger of a punk.

Tom_PM 07-28-2009 08:38 AM

NFL is known to not ACTUALLY give a shit about role model creation or retention.Got a pound of coke? oops, sign here. Kill a guy? Oopsie, these things happen: sign this. Get bit by a tranny hooker? lmao, sign here.

Sure, society says he's "paid his dues" and previously, the NFL might have "fined" him. Who cares? Thats then, this is now. Sophistry doesn't make it right, it just makes it sound right for people who wish for it to be right.

It would be great if they actually did hold their players to higher standards. Of course that will never happen because they would be risking their money.

brassmonkey 07-28-2009 10:30 AM

animals are considered property he should be able 2 do whatever he wants but people get their nose in others business like peta bullshit
