Is it worth going there this time of year?

To expensive and warm right now. I suggest you wait till the after the middle of August.

Which islands are best for (straight) partying?

i don't know how it's today, but i have been to Ios 20 years ago and it was nearly like one giant orgy. unbelievable.

stay away from Mykonos if you insist on "straight" ;)

I go to santorini often. It have both the party section(the city Oia) and the relaxed family orientated ares. Right now Skopelos and Skiathos are a hit for the females due to the Mamma Mia movie. At the moment there are 3 times more females than males on those two locations - so its easy to find company :)

But I will still take santorini any day over the others

+ the flight goes straight to santorini, instead of having to take connecting flights or boats

btw - "warm" is relative. for someone from Denmark everything above 20°C is warm :winkwink:

i've been there end of July/early August and it was ok. about 35°C and a light wind

if you don't like it that warm and a bigger island that has more to offer then go to Korfu - but there are no other islands around for island hopping

Santorini is definitely one of the most beautiful islands there, Paros is ok too. and Mykonos is NOT only for gays either - lol

Was in Ios 5 years ago and it was still heavenly. Highly recommend it.

Santorini, Mykonos, Zakynthos - are now the most popular ones
Tasos, Rodos, Corfu - are also good ones

prices there are quite big at the moment.
if you can go in last week of august or fist week of september
you can get like 50% cheaper, and it won't be that hot,
and there will be no crowds on the beaches...

Does that mean most of the young tourists will be gone too? Cause I'm not sure I wanna hang out with the locals, as nice as they may be.

haha, no shit. 20-25 °C is perfect summer for me with the humidity we have.

But the reason I reccomend late august is because of the chance of the heatwaves in early august on those islands. I have tried 40-42 °C in the shade 2 times, and wont reccomend anyone going there in that period unless you want to spend most of the day in your room or under water

It's expensive this time of year but the climate is great :)

Just don't go to Kos, what shit hole that was.
I like Kreta and Rhodos but those places are more laid back then anything, not where I would go looking for non stop partying.

Went to Crete last year. Great place, very hot though and a tad on the pricey side

I'd go in september when it's a little bit cooler than in the summer. The water is still very warm then. My holiday destination is southern Spain again this year.

I suggest Skiathos if you insist on an island. However, I had much more fun over in Halkidiki, a Eastern province comprised of three peninsulas. On the middle one (named Cassandra I think), there's a few little villages like Vouvourou and Sarti that offer some of the most relaxing atmosphere I've ever experienced in my life. My days there consisted of sleeping in, snorkeling all day, and feasting/drinking all night. It was glorious!

was in Kos a few years ago, kick ass place to party :)
