Two children shot by siblings in US.

Sad story

Two children shot by siblings in US.

Who in their right mind keeps an unsecured gun in a house with children?

jmcb420 07-25-2009 04:41 AM

people can be so stupid sometimes. But I also wonder, even knowing what a gun CAN do, why the hell would anyone leave one for a child to find?

This is the kind of stuff that makes people want tougher laws, and makes lawmakers attempt to pass those laws. There are responsible gun owners, I'm one of them. But i've said it many times, 90% of people who do own guns, shouldn't.

Those poor kids. Sad story to start the weekend. I hope they pull through.

why do third worlders always look for bad things in America.
you'd move here in a heart beat if you could afford it and we'd let you.

There are lots of laws designed for the less bright. No one in their right mid should drink and drive. We have laws to protect the innocent from those who do. Not 100% but imagine it without any drink driving laws.

Thats a true point, but even though people die daily in car accidents caused by stupidity (alcohol included) in the states dosen't mean they will push to outlaw cars. (everyone owns a car)

Guns are different in every way. The bill of rights has an amendment that allows us to "bear arms" but, people forget that bill was written in a time when the citizens of this country were also the protectors. Things are not like that anymore. it's 2009, we have a military, we have massive police forces. The singal citizen is no longer his soul protector.

Nowdays the only time I hear about guns, its really bad shit. And usually because of some idiot who dosen't even have the intelligence to own and operate a gun in the first place leaving it for some child who dosen't have the experience to know better.

Just an assumption, but I dont think you would hand your 4 year old the keys to your car and tell them to go play. That would be stupid. Why people let children play near or around firearms is beyond me.

The same people who keep unlocked alcohol next to the mil in the fridge...

however, to put things in perspective, I was giving my first gun at 10. A shotgun, by my grandfather, and I never killed anyone, and I choose to not own firearms (hand guns) now, I do have that old shotgun though.

I think you need to be a american to belive that kind of bullshit. Sure, third worlders like mexicans and africans flock to the United states, but that's about it. You dont see a imigrationline of edcated people going in to the United States anymore.

No, and claiming its false is a flat out lie

Quote:

American children aged 14 and younger are 16 times more likely to be killed by firearms than are children in 25 other industrialized nations averaged together, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even when the focus shifts from gun-related deaths to all homicides, the U.S. still makes a poor showing. The murder rate for American kids under age 14 is five times the average rate for the other countries.

The numbers stay bleak throughout the teen years and young adulthood. The risk that an American aged 15 to 19 will die from a firearm injury more than doubled between 1985 and 1994

Interesting read.

:2 cents:
To have a gun in the house is a privilege, having one in the house with children is always going to be a risk.

Thomas1007 07-25-2009 08:51 AM

thats sad, the adults should have known better than
to leave the guns around not under lock and key.
