Best Instrumental Songs?

I'm listening to one of my favorite instrumental songs of all time, Death Angel's "The Ultra-Violence" and wondering what some of the favorite instrumentals of the GFY faithful are

My Top 5:

Death Angel - "The Ultra-Violence"
Motley Crue - "God Bless The Children Of The Beast"
Metallica - "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)"
Quiet Riot - "Bass Case"
Joe Satriani - "Satch Boogie"

YES!! Someone on GFY has good taste in music! LTE is incredible and Acid Rain is one of my absolute favorite instrumentals EVER. You've gotta love the 7 string in the main riff! I also love the Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater. It's truly insane, but once you get to know it you'll love it forever :)

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Get to the bottom and I see you again

Dance of Eternity is on Scenes From a Memory. If you don't have it, buy it immediately :) It's a fucking masterpiece! Although Images & Words is my all-time favorite DT album, Scenes is a close second. Yeah, Portnoy is incredible, the stuff he (and the rest of DT) can play and write is just about unbelievable. My boyfriend is a guitarist, and Petrucci is his main influence too.

Oh HELL YEAH !!

How could I have forgotten that one.

Meaningless story no one will care about :
Back in my hometown, there was a small amusement park with only a few rides and a rollercoaster. Well, my favorite ride was the Gyrosphere (most of you must be familiar with it) which was in a big tent like building. Anyway, the coolest part of the ride was the lights and the music which was BLASTED !! .. and it was always ELO Fire on High.

That song Rocks !!

chodadog 12-04-2002 04:27 AM

I like Vanessa Mae's stuff. And who could forget wipeout by the surfaris? hehe.

gothweb 12-04-2002 06:51 AM

Instrumentals by Pig are really great and atmospheric. Inspired by the modern composer Arvo Përt who makes amazing use of silence.

I'm actually going togo one step further and mention the other fantastic instrumentals Rush has. Though YYZ rocks (especially live) they also have:

La Villa Strangiato

Leave That Thing Alone

Where's My Thing

Limbo

Awesome stuff. Also King Crimson has great instrumentals. The song Red is fantastic.
