Sending out mass emails <question>

I just started sending out over 100k email newsletters and it is taking about 48 hours for them all to go through. I have to keep my computer up to send it up.

Any recommendations with a database that size to send emails and have it sent quickly... like maybe an hour?

thanks

How many are you sending in a batch?

I send it through my user management... I have only one option to send it all.

I already had them customize to paying members, paying members cancelled, free members never paid... etc.

Should I reach out to them and get something set up?

Personally I would.

If you are sending off your own server only send 5,000 per hour....
If you are dropping off you IP (personal computer) then you had better check with your ISP to make sure you dont get shit canned

I'd assumed you are blacklisted by now.

You have to throttle those sends somehow. Especially the ones going to the same big addresses like gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.

mmcfadden 07-22-2009 08:28 PM

12,201 - 12,250

I know, but the mailservers of the world don't care. If gmail notices a bunch of sends from your domain in a short period, it can blacklist it, same with other domains you are sending to.

What software is sending those, it should have some feature to delay similar domains and messages per hour.

You can also check your domain against the whitelist/blacklist. You can google "email blacklist" for some free ones.

mmcfadden 07-23-2009 06:38 PM

still sending...

Sending emails to users 68051-68100 (122687 total, 54587 e-mails left)

mmcfadden 08-13-2009 04:55 PM

yup... got blacklisted by barracuda and a .eu email that I know of.

On a brighter note... I was removed from the .eu blacklist and barracuda is temporarily removed upon further investigation.

Thanks for the heads up about the blacklist!
