converting my site from front page to dreamweaver

I have a paysite and it's built in Front Page. When I first started, it met my needs, but Front Page extensions suck. Now I plan on re-doing the site in Dreamweaver. I use Ibill for my billing. Is there a way that I can just move things over without having to have Ibill go back in and re-install the scripts?
Please help!
Thanks
Mandy

HTML is different with frontpage?

MandyBlake 12-03-2002 08:34 PM

I use the Front Page publish tool to upload everything to the web.
Does anyone have any ideas for me about how to convert everything from Front Page to Dreamweaver without needing Ibill to go re-install the scripts?
Thanks

(I've never used front page) just a shot in the dark, but couldn't you just pull the html docs straight from FTP, and open them in Dreamweaver?

Even though front page wrote them, aren't the html docs similar enough to be opened in dreamweaver?

Or in Notepad, and cleaned up.

Starting on Notepad so many years ago (3) has been a huge advantage when it comes to having to do something from scratch.

Mandy,
Can't you just open your ftp program up (like cuteftp or leech) and upload all your files that are located in "webshare" from frontpage directly to your server?
That seems as if it would work. Does your site require front page extensions? If not, don't use them.

Hope that helps and by the way....very nice looking girl :)

This is correct... I use Claris sometimes and dreamweaver soemtimes.. I open a page with dreamweaver it tells me it found x number of errors... I do my thing and FTP it.
I might open the same page again in Claris, save it and FTP it.
I really don't think it's a big deal. But Microsoft and FrontPage just might be Diff. but I don't think so... I've saved source from pages that were done with FrontPage to Claris with NO problem. :2 cents:

I switched from FrontPage (sucks ass) to Dreamweaver MX (kicks ass). In FP, if you are using any of the FP elements like shared borders, you have to publish via FrontPage (not FTP) or they won't work.

You can't pull up a FrontPage site in Dreamweaver unless you download the "Import FrontPage Site Wizard" extension to convert it. I could never get the sites to work after converting, so I said fuck it and rebuilt them in Dreamweaver.

The FP extensions are a major pain in the ass. When you no longer need the extensions, you won't need to be on a Windows box, and can go Unix.

FP is good for learning because it's like fill-in-the-blank, but once you get the hang of Dreamweaver, you'll see how much it sucked.

I always wondered how people ran websites and never learned HTML...
