Escrow: Help me out a bit with it please.

Time has come to sell one of my sites (not the one in my signature, thanks) and because both the buyer and me want to be on the safe side when transferring this kind of money (and vice versa the domain and site to him) i suggested to use escrow.

BUT!

I never used escrow before, so how safe is this.

I registered, etc etc. But now what, why is this much safer, the big issue will be the transfer of the domain i guess. I want to make sure i get payment after it has been released to him. Ive been reading for it on escrow, but my lack of english leaves me confused.

How does this work? How do i make sure payment is really send before escrow gives him the domain? And what is that inspection period? I mean, if he has the domain, he can inspect it and then what?! How does escrow do this?

Thanks for your quick advice!

I have used escrow.com over 100 times with no problems.

Ok, but how does this work then?

Domain gets transferred to escrow first? Or how am I safe as a seller?

Since the Buyer pays Escrow.com and not the Seller, Escrow.com can withhold payment until it's satisfied the domain name has been transferred by the Seller. One of the ways Escrow.com does this is by checking the WHOIS database of the appropriate Registrar* to make certain it properly reflects the new Buyer's name as the domain name Registrant. Once this has been verified, Escrow.com releases payment to the Seller.

Escrow rocks. It emails you each time an action is required by you or the seller. It's really easy to use.

- First, Escrow gets the money from the buyer and holds it.
- You transfer the domain.
- Escrow releases the money to you.
