BORRRKEDDD!!

You need to add postal codes to your geo data service, because I really don't feel like scraping a site to grab postal codes based on city and region searches :(

Sorry for the delayed reply!
http://www.geoplugin.com/webservices...to_postal_code

does lat/long to postal code and isn't too shabby for US data, but postal code service is the least accurate of them all :2 cents:

Honest question - where you asking in this thread, so you could use the service for your geo weight-loss ads running on adshuffle.com?

I ask, cos a few days after this post I had a massive peak of 60 million lookups for 1 day (normally 3-4 million), then a pause, then the last few days sustained 60-100million lookups/day. Unfortunately, I was on vacation during those peaks, and so all my users suffered for 3 days.

If so, it would have been polite to ask me first, cos by using adshuffle you were circumventing the lookup restrictor in place, but mod_rewrite fixed the problem, which was very quickly noticed on the ad.

Whoever it was, and I'm pretty sure it came from the gfy crew cos that amount of traffic can only come from some of you guys, bumping a free service from 3-4million hits a day to over 100million is just not on.

Anyway, whoever it was tried maxmind after I dumped my own text into their ads, which loaded a shit lot slower than my service, and today have finally decided to dump geo for a simple, non-geo ad
