How do you make thumbs for a multi-category tgp ??
 

I'm branching over into some multi-category tgps, but I wonder if there's a trick to making the thumbs, for me starting out, there's literally THOUSANDS of galleries for me to go through and picking a couple of thumbs to make a niche thumb for each gallery, this is a hell of a lot of work, I'm just wondering if there's a trick to making it easier.

My script can do automated thumb making, but I see on a lot of the multi-category tgps, all of the thumbs are specific to the niche, you don't see the rest of the thumbs from the gallery on the page, like Young Leafs for example - http://www.youngleafs.com/pictures/bigtits.shtml

Which script do you use?

With vanilla v2 you can have (i believe) three different thumbs for each gallery. It may be more, I forget. You can sort them all into multiple categories as well. Its a powerful script with tonnes of features to utilize if you have the patience to learn it all.

Dirty, I use Tmanager now.

Doug, Tmanager is the same way when I manually crop, I can make as many thumbs as I'd like for each gallery or have the script automatically do it for me and then find the best thumb through rotation. When I do it manually, I can also go into a gallery and then select thumbs for different niches that way if the gallery has multiple niches.

I guess just wonder if there's an easier way to do it. I know there's a lot of bigger multi-category tgps out there, I just wonder if they spent hundreds of hours hand cropping each thumb to build the database up, then run with it that way.

The categories are cropped by the script like ST.

The index thumbs are done in photoshop and picked from a highly clickable looking gallery thumb. Make sure and match it up with one of the small thumbs on its respective niche page so the surfers can find it.

Those categories aren't someone just dumping in piles of galleries and letting the script do the work. The thumbs are right to the point :)

I'm fine spending all the time to manually select each thumb, but I just wonder if there's a faster way of doing it. I have THOUSANDS of galleries to go through and I guess to get those results, I will continue to go through them one gallery at a time, but I'd just hate to go through and do all that work to find that there's a quicker option.

One thing that I did think of would be to dump in the galleries for each niche and let the script automatically do them, then go through and select the thumbs from there and delete the rest, but that still seems like a lot to do and I wouldn't have the option of hand cropping.

Oh ok I see what your saying, yes we go through each gallery one at a time using bulk scan with like 5 tabs open in ST. You can select the best thumb per gallery and hand crop if if need be. (if watermark in way) I dont think that first link you posted is doing anything special other then that, especially the movie gals if you scroll down. They arent anything special just a good imagick magic filter im sure.

Even using bulk scan yes it does take ALOT of time and thats why you see very few people switching to multi cat. Its not for the lazy folk. Between selecting the gal, cropping if need be, selecting the proper category it goes in, etc. Its alot of work no doubt.

I know guys like say coonyboobs, (not multicat i know) I see at the bottom of their pages they list thumb boom thumbing service. I dont know anything about them but might be worth checking out. I dunno if they could category sort them too though.

Thanks again Jag, so I guess what you're saying is that there is no shortcuts, ha ha. I guess I'll just have be prepared with spending a lot of time working on it then. I suppose once it's fully stocked, the updates won't be so bad, but the trick is to get to that point. It's something new to try, so I'll see if it pays off in the end.
