I made my awesome supreme salsa of doom this weekend!
http://i29.tinypic.com/2urwnr8.jpg
http://i25.tinypic.com/4u9gdl.jpg Ingredients: 10 vine ripened tomatoes 1 white onion 1 yellow bell pepper 1 orange bell pepper 1 red bell pepper 2 tomatillos 3 jalapeno peppers (no seeds) 3 serrano peppers (with seeds) 1 habanero pepper (no seeds) 6 piquin peppers 2 yellow banana peppers 1 bunch of cilantro salt (not too much) Note: I didn't use the green bell peppers, they were just thrown in the pics since they were on the counter anyway. :) All hand chopped! Om nom nom nom! One of the plastic tupperware to the left went over to my good buddy LAJ, and the other to my neighbor in my cul de sac. Who else gets jiggy with an awesome salsa recipe? |
That looks awesome!

Nice dude. I roll similar to what you've got there plus some lemon or lime. :thumbsup

Also, I think the aesthetic (as well as flavorful) value of the bell peppers is great, and the subtle flavors of the tomatillo's and variety of peppers is great too. |
I didn't take any cool pics for this one, but while I was doing some volunteer work at our local food bank (I help maintain their huge vegetable garden), I came up on a few nice basil plants that were growing outside their planters, so I took them home, and made a killer batch of basil pesto, and combined it with whole grain penne pasta for a great pesto penne salad.
Ingredients were: 2.5 cups (very finely chopped) fresh basil leaves 1/2 cup olive oil 1/2 cup parmesan cheese 1/3 cup finely diced walnuts 5 tablespoons diced garlic All mixed together, combined with finished penne pasta and served cold. Yum! |
awesome stuff. I made some guacamole yesterday and it was pretty good too :)

cyandin-
don't know if you are on a diet or not, but if you are NOT- here's my recipe for jalapeno ranch dip/dressing- 1 1/3 cups mayonnaise 1/3 cup buttermilk 1/3 cup chopped jalapenos 1/3 cup chopped green chilis 1/3 cup chopped cilantro 1 packet buttermilk ranch dressing mix put it all in the food processor and blend till you like the consistency put it on a lot if different things, from chips to salmon, it's good. when i have my just my buddies over to watch the races or whatever, i add 3 extra jalepenos and keep the seeds in, everything but the stem. it's hot! |
looks tasty

Sounds great. the Habanero is prob a little too much for my taste, even though I love spicy!
I would add a bunch of chopped green onions, lime juice and a few cloves of Garlic for a little more authentic taste. When I am blending mine together I also add a hint of olive oil, i feel it ads to the texture a bit. I make my salsa a few different, but the method you use is by far the most poppular. Kudos! |
supreme salsa of doom
