Anyone seen a live taping of Wheel of Fortune?

Heading to Las Vegas tomorrow and the wife was able to get some tickets to a live taping of Wheel of Fortune at The Venetian or The Palazzo and I was just wondering if anyone has been to one before? Alright to watch or boring?

Seems like fun. I'd have a hard time not yelling out the answers before the contestants.

I'm good at that shit.

Out of all the things to do here... why this?

epitome 07-19-2009 06:31 PM

No, but Pat Sajak lives up the street from me.

He's a cool dude.

Also my old bosses best friend.

I haven't found my way into his social circle. I am millions short.

Never seen it, but on TV it is boring. I imagine a live taping would be a little less boring.

Vanna White strips during the commercial breaks.

Umm well it's not our first trip here and my wife enjoys the show. It was alright despite the long ass wait before hand.

yeah its pretty boring. Get ready to clap, lol

Vanna is super duper skinny and it will be really cold.

used to sit in on them as fundraisers in high school, they paid like $8 a head at the Burbank studios. It might be more exciting since it is in Vegas though.

It's all fun and games until the next social is at your house

I used to find game shows exciting as a teenager because it was real people playing for real money. Also the smutty ad-libs on Hollywood Squares were hilarious, and I had stories to tell for years.

I also have stories from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. They're even dirtier.

Later, I became a staffer on game shows, and they got REALLY interesting. Especially the games that involved hard questions and unexpected answers from the contestants.

Bundle up, because it gets cold in the studio to counteract the heat from the lights. Never, ever say an answer out loud, no matter how quiet you try to be. You could screw it up for a contestant.

Have a good time. You'll find that set pieces are smaller than they look (except the Wheel of Fortune wheel, which is like eight feet across) and you'll be amazed at how many people are there considering that you only see Pat and Vanna.

And keep in mind that if you're watching a TV show, you aren't gambling. It's the cheapest entertainment there is.

I have never been to a taping of anything that wasn't boring . . . except for 1 or 2 pornos.

kristin 07-21-2009 10:56 AM

Did anyone buy an unnecessary vowel? Cause I think I would jump out of the audience and beat them.
