blogs and RSS feed question

Do blogs using only rss feeds do as well with Google as blogs not using rss feeds? If not, what's the point of using them?

Agent 488 07-17-2009 08:58 PM

like sponsor provided feeds?

Shoplifter 07-17-2009 09:11 PM

Depends on the level of duplication and many other factors.

Yah it depends. Some sponsors feed are all the same. So a lot of blogs with same content word for word is tough to get high in the SE rankings.

I had a blog that I hand wrote for a while. Got busy and added some feeds. It tanked after the next PR update.

Then you have to rely on the directory traffic.

the point of using them is that you have instant content for your blog

once you add a few feeds to your script/plugin it is set and forget

hand written blogs = unique content = best solution but also a lot more work

Those blogs do well for the sites that are generating the feeds; if your blog has no content it will compare sadly to the feeds' site's you're plugging.

It's like a hardlink back to the source sites.... unless you have content to "back" the feeds you'll be much less relevant than the sites you're linking to/using their feeds.

:D

Thanks, I'll stick to hand written content.

If you modify every post (see sig. for special software) that you syndicate from sponsored RSS feeds, your blog (aka splog) will be ok with Google. :2 cents:

get quality feeds to start with

then... make your handwritten posts as often as possible... use morphing RSS feeds as supplementary to keep your blog freshly updated with posts more unique than static RSS feeds (which usually are rarely updated anyhow). ensure your morphing rss feed powered affiliate program allows you the ability to customize the size and type of content, lots of layout types etc as well or you'll end up with minuscule thumbnails that surely won't turn a prospect on.
