Why offshore hosting?
 

If you have a legal site, does offshore hosting add another layer of protection for you? Why do people use offshore hosting?

I've wondered the same thing. If you're legal, 2257 compliant, all that... why?

It sucks, latency is through the roof and just presents slower pages and poorer user experience.

I think if you live in the US, you can be nailed even if your server is elsewhere - but it seems like an added layer of protection to go offshore.

we have a server in europe and one in the us for the tour so theres a mirror and you access the closest one so europe doesnt have latency issues and the us doesnt have latency issues.
