DIY / Renovation Thread {sexy staircase photo}

About a year ago I started work on renovating my staircase. I started it thinking it would take about a week, and that I would sail through it. Anyways, after a couple of days I was making no progress, and kinda gave up (having fucked up the staircase).

Fast forward to the beginning of June 09, and I started work on the staircase again while the wife and kids were on holiday in Europe. I worked on these fuckers after work each night, and every weekend. There was over 100-years of varnish, lacker, and grime on the stairs, and I had to strip, scrape, and sand ever last bit of it off.

Yesterday, I finished them -- and I am very pleased with the results :)

Now I have to start work on the kids room and get it finished before the family gets back!

It is an oil based paint, so it is fully washable / scrubbable -- but with the kids, who knows....? :upsidedow
