Why do we need a new stimulus if 85% of the first one hasn't been spent?
Why do we need a new stimulus if 85% of the first one hasn't been spent?
I believe in Keynesian Economics and the bailout was 92% perfect but the last month has been all about Obama's flaming liberal values. I think the stimulus is only coming out so slowly so has better odds of getting support for a 2nd stimulus. |
I just read a book by Congressman John Murtha detailing how we got to the point of 9/11, and in the book he mentions that everyone seems to think that a bill or law is passed, goes into effect, and that's that. The truth is more like when there is money involved, it takes years to get to it's destination - Details on how to disburse the money has to be made, contracts have to be bid on, etc.
What a fucked up system we have. |
fucking stupid IMO. giving people back "stimulus" money is the worst idea. guess what they spent it on? Booze, food or other crap they did not need.
Instead, they should of just reduced the amount of taxes out of your check. Most people get raped by 25-28% on each check, but if they lowered that by 2-3% or so, that would be more money spread out over a greater period of time preventing people from blowing it on non essential "stimulus" items. correct me if i'm wrong, but wasnt the point of this to get the economy to grow? |

I rarely support Obama but the payroll deduction was a good thing in the stimulus bill -- a Republican idea he reluctantly supported. Still he supported it so good job Obama! |
Oh Yeah and that put a TON of money back into the pockets of the people that can really stimulate the economy.. Tons and tons. Should have just payed that 70 billion to the people that pay taxes in the first place and that would have fixed the issues.

The stimulus is all about paying back Obama's campaign supporters.
It has not stimulated the economy, it has burdened it more. |
|
The best part of the stimulus is that it was supposed to create new jobs. Unfortunately, while it created 150,000 jobs (or saved jobs) 2,000,000 more people have lost their job since it was passed. The stimulus, according to the White House, would stop unemployment from going above 8% nationwide. It is now at 9.5%. I say do not spend the rest of the stimulus money and do not add any more debt to the country.

As soon as they are done with payback, maybe they will try to get things fixed. Don't bet on it.
What a mess. The whole political system needs an overhaul. It has been abused beyond repair. |
