Cheap Trick
I figured there were plenty of useless threads that I scrolled through so I should make one of my own.
So I called it Cheap Trick. Why? Because at 4:36 on a Tuesday morning that was what I was listening to. Very loudly. Great band. Simple pure rock n roll from Illinois. So great. Listening to Dream Police. I've seen them multiple times and they are always great. PS I know the song is played, but anyone that loves Asian girls like I do should just listen to 'I Want You To Want Me' and hear them screaming, "crying! crying! crying!" |
what a cheap thread

One of my favorite bands of all time!
Long live Rick Neilson! |
Elo kiddies...
|
Dude I liked the band a lot too in the day, its still good shit - but did you just wake up from a time time capsule 20 year nap or something? Besides the chicks in Japan scream for anyone western with the right haircut and sneakers too.

Fuck the rangers!
|
Did someone mention Asian girls?
|
Love Cheap Trick and the Rangers! :thumbsup

Goood to hear.

I had a strange incident recently involving Cheap Trick.
I told a buddy I was going to Tokyo the next day and he asked what I had planned and I told him the only thing on my agenda was to go to the Budokan building to give thanks for that Cheap Trick live album (we had gone to see them in concert on that tour like 30 years ago and we both have awesome memories of that night and I thought that was a funny reply to him). So after I wrote that reply I decided to download that Live at Budokan album as it must be like 20 years since I last listened to it and must of played the song Surrender over and over 10 times in a row while I was researching things to do in Japan for my trip the next morning. I stopped playing the song to put on the TV as it was the premier of the new Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. And bang, a minute into the show, they play the entire length of the song Surrender while Conan is running across the country to LA. Surrender is some obscure song from the 70's so I thought the coincidence of me discussing it and playing it and then turning on the TV to see it played during the premier of the new Tonight Show was wild. |
haha thats cool :)
Wow I saw them live in 1979 or so at a big outdoor concert that also had Journey, and (of all things) Sha na na, and a bunch of other bands. It poured rain half the time and was a muddy mess, but really great music. |
I just came back to this. I have to thank each and every one of you that replied. Especially Kevin, because I had posted many a douche bag post earlier. It's no excuse but alcohol does get the best of me at times. So I eat my humble pie and hope some day we can talk.
Back to the band and post. I have been going through a tough time losing a good friend. When I do, it's usually Queen that gets me emotional. But today I've been going through lots of Cheap Trick again and a Canadian band called Brighton Rock. (long story) Other than DH (LEAFS SUCK) I challenge anyone who likes rock n roll to listen this band and not get totally psyched. I just want to drink more and listen louder!!!!!! PS. Find the video for She's Tight. Great song and great basic video. |
They live inside of my head

I saw them last yeah opening for Heart and Journey in Toronto. They are who I wanted to see. Plus I wanted to see if Nancy Wilson would eat Ann and if the little Philippine guy would be a goof singing for Journey. Loved Cheap Trick. But as embarrassingly as it is to admit, the little guy from Journey was better than Steve Perry. Next song... Clock Strikes Ten |
Love Cheap Trick. My band played quite a few shows with them in Fla. in the mid 1980's and they always kicked ass.
|
I saw Journey with Steve Perry in the early 80's and they rocked pretty good.
I got to see Queen with Freddy Mercury and of course it goes without saying they were great. I've seen Cheap Trick twice and really enjoyed those shows as well. They can really rock a crowd. Great music from all of the above. |
Have to be up in a few hours. Motorhead for bed.
Good night all and anyone. |

Actually I remember now that the first time I saw Cheap Trick was around 1981. They played an auditorium here and the opening act was going to be Michael Schenker, but he was not able to perform for some reason at the last minute so Cheap Trick agreed to play the whole three hours. They played alot of hits off their albums through All Shook UP as well as some great songs that didn't get alot of airplay at the time.
Ohhhh yeah, and they pretty well gave us the full impact of the Bodukan experience. It was a great show. |
First concernt I ever saw was Cheap Trick with REO. Great show, seen them a few times since.
Mr. Billy, that might have been the same tour YOU saw! It was around that time. |
Damn dig420, that would be a great show for someone's first concert experience.
I had been to several concerts before, but I brought a friend to this one for his first concert. It was kinda fun seeing somebody else go from the home and car stereo experience to a live and onstage event with a band that has a world presence. What a rush. Saw REO later that year. They were good also. |
Bun e Carlos is in a terrible new band called tinted windows
|
It's a new drunken evening so I must comment. I discovered tonight that Cheap Trick is opening for Def Leppard this summer. Considering that Joe Elliot has no more voice and that Cheap Trick always put on a better show, this bugs me. But at least the boys are out again this summer like every summer.
Listening to Anthrax for now. I think Heaven Tonight might be in the near future. Auf Wiedersehen in celebration of booking my room for Oktoberfest. Before the sentence ended April Wine came on. The cost of living in Canada. |
love to hear that
|
hmm interesting... :)
|
Apology accepted
:-)) My favorite Cheap trick song is "California Man" It influenced me to move out here |
