$116 For My Son's Tux Rental!

Holy fuck I am in the wrong business. My 3 year old is going to be the ring boy for our cousin so it's all good but damn I guess it's been a while since I rented a monkey suit. I honestly don't remember it being that much. The lady at the store reminded us about 3 times that if it wasn't returned the next day it would be 20 bucks per day extra.

I was tempted to just buy him a tux but I know he will never wear it again, lol...

Caaaarazy!

mikesinner 07-07-2009 11:24 PM

Mine was $100 for my prom. I went white even though the theme was black. That was back in 94.

LiveDose 07-07-2009 11:25 PM

I guess it's been a while since I rented... lol

LiveDose 07-07-2009 11:26 PM

My prom was in '89. I have no clue what I paid... When I got married I just showed up and tried the thing on. I had nothing to do with the planning.

abadfish 07-07-2009 11:44 PM

The last time I rented a tux it was more then that. When I returned it the pants were ripped, the vest and shirt were stained with beer and champagne and the cuff links and buttons were missing. So I have an idea why it's expensive.

RayBonga 07-08-2009 02:27 AM

how much were you expecting?

I had to rent tuxedos a couple of times (when traveling without mie and had to attend some formal party) and always paid around eur 130-150 (not in the US though)

You should have spent the money on a hooker, and told your cousin that you were broke - and that if he stills wants to exploit your tyke in a tux, for a one-off lousy wedding photo op, he'll have to pay for it himself... :2 cents:

It's actually the bride but yes you are right the fact that this is cutting into my hooker funds is upsetting.

Good to hear that you are coming to your senses - love, nor anything else (least of all the marriage of your cousin - unless you're marrying her), should ever come between you and cheap hookers! :thumbsup

Just buy him a decent black suit.

- Doesn't look as lame as a tux,
- Good for the occasion
- He can wear it a lot afterwards

Got Porn? 07-08-2009 05:59 AM

I spent $150 the last time I rented a tux 4 years ago.

baddog 07-08-2009 08:43 AM

You could have bought him a nice suit for that much.

PurrrsianPussyKat 07-08-2009 09:26 AM

Pretty sure $100 range is average. I think it cost that in 1989 when my bf took me to the prom. :D

fuzebox 07-08-2009 09:44 AM

Mine was about $175 in 2000.... But it was pretty damn slick :)

Dude you got ripped. I am getting married next week my 4 year old is the ring bearer. We got him a top of the line light wool (outdoor wedding) Calvin Klien tux and shoes for $70 from presidential tuxedo.

No wonder they charged me so much for my tux for your wedding, they proably charged us extra to give your son a discount ;)

CYF 07-08-2009 01:45 PM

You would think the price would be pro-rated based upon the size

My 3 year old successfully walked down the aisle as the ring boy with his blankie in hand. In retrospect I would have paid $1000 for the suit to capture this moment.

Joe King 07-29-2009 11:41 PM

An abortion would have only cost you a few hundred more.
