New - company vehicle [PICS]
 

We took delivery earlier today on a new company vehicle - an '04 Kia Sedona. :)

Along with a new 2010 Kia Forte...for the wife (no pics yet).

The Sedona is a sweet ride (for a minivan, at least :1orglaugh) - fully loaded, only 40k on the odo - $8800 (Cdn.)

It'll get some good use - haulin' props and gear back and forth to the studio across town.

Is that PS or did you really get the logo on there?
Is it as clean inside as it is outside, because that looks nice for an '04

Only a few kms, we just needed something practical and utility - and we could write it off as company expense. :)

Its perfectly immaculate inside and out. I suspect it was maybe a southern vehicle (U.S.) owned by an older/retired couple - wintered in Fla.

The graphics are chop'd - but we're having them airbrushed very similiar shortly.

Car prices like everything else are inflated in Canada, because our dollar is less, and because we're suckers who don't mind paying 35% more for everything.

The problem with dimwits (as you call'em) - is they have no clue or concept about our business end and why a minivan is advantageous for a production company.

Aside from shuttling large props from the workshop to the studio - its ideal for hauling gear and people to on-location photoshoots (which we tend to do a lot of). Lighting, umbrella reflectors, cameras/tripods, wardrobe, makeup kits, smaller props, etc.

And bonus - the tinted windows give models privacy for on-location wardrobe changes.

But "dimwits" who only require a trunk to stick "5 servers" into don't think for a moment about things like that. To them, everyone else's needs and situation is perceived and judged by their own little world. So they spew shit without thought - just to be hateful.

Amusingly, here locally we have two photographers who are recognized by the Canadian government as accredited master photographers, Preston Haskell and Paul Mitchell. Oddly, both use company minivans (and both advertise their companies with van graphics).

We're not out there making a bling/status/fashion statement with a van. Its simply practical.

The haters can hate. That's fine - I think its amusingly ridiculous. But I have to wonder one thing ... what would a potential customer of theirs on GFY think about their business sense after reading this thread? :1orglaugh

True that - in comparison to U.S. prices Canada is significantly higher, both new and used...unfortunately.

We're a fully legal, tax-paying Canadian company - nothing to hide. We've been on the local christian crusader radar for many years. Its no different than an adult movies/toys storefront shop down by the Falls.

Besides, we do other photo production aside from the adult variety. Hell, we're even listed under photography services on the city's municipal website. :)

We rented a 2009 Kia Sedona to drive from Vegas to Denver a few weeks ago it was great.
