JustDaveXxx 07-07-2009 05:37 PM

NOPE!!!! GSP is for real!!! After the number he did on Pen, im a believer. HAs a very serious work ethic too.

GSP!! Referee stoppage...

SlickCash 07-07-2009 05:48 PM

Alves is a very good fighter, but GSP all the way!

maxjohan 07-07-2009 05:49 PM

This is sort of like Machida vs. Evans again.

GSP being Machida. He's over body seems too rigid, and. :thumbsup

GSP could do backflips over Thiago Alves. And he Will.

GSP!

I agree he has a killer attitude, not the lazy laid back fighter. But I see GSP winning this.

mikesinner 07-07-2009 05:50 PM

Should be an interesting fight.

Sosa 07-07-2009 05:51 PM

I hope Pierre loses and might even throw some money on Alves as the line is pretty nice right now.

JohnnyPearl 07-07-2009 05:52 PM

Sorry no stopping GSP..

marketsmart 07-07-2009 06:03 PM

gsp for the win..

Bomber8888 07-07-2009 06:08 PM

GSP is at the top of his game right now... he can't be stopped~

Anthony 07-07-2009 06:10 PM

NAYSAYERS REPENT!!!

Pitbull waks around 205lbs+. GSP isn't gonna be manhandling Thiago this time! :)

ATT ATT ATT ATT ATT ATT ATT

Pitbull bringing back the belt to Coconut Creek!!!

Did you happen to miss that fight where GSP got knocked the fuck down by the GRAPPLER Matt Serra?

Pitbull is a Muay Thai Wrecking Machine! I'm actually gonna be in Canada when this fight happens, and I will be in that fucking sports bar with my shirt with a big ass AMERICAN TOP TEAM LOGO on it proud as can be when Peachy beats down GSP!

maxjohan 07-07-2009 07:05 PM

Certainly valid points with GSP against Matt Serra. Thiago Alves seems to have the type of raw badass attitude to put a scar on GSP's face, but how good is Thiago Alves standing self defense?

Also, what are your thoughts for fighter Jon Jones, as you seem to be somewhat of an expert around here, any future predictions?

Supz 07-07-2009 07:12 PM

Anthony, Do you know an older guy named Scott S. that used to train over there in coconut creek by any chance?

NickB. 07-07-2009 07:16 PM

I hope Alves wins to be honest hahahah

sysk 07-07-2009 07:17 PM

GSP for the win.

http://www.yardbarker.com/media/2/2/...er067UFC52.jpg

btw, I saw him in a club a couple weeks ago

JustDaveXxx 07-07-2009 07:29 PM

The only person beating GSP will be Anderson Silva in a catch weight. This guy is way on right now.

I usually go with what Anthony says, but i know he is biased like a mother fucker because he is Top Team.

I am biased too when my friends fight and i forget to look at the bigger picture.

GSP round 3 TKO or Reff stopage.

Nicky 07-07-2009 07:43 PM

GSP is gonna be hard but as always anything can happen.

If this is the same Scott S, crazy fucker, tall short hair, in his 40's. I know him well. :)

Kinda guy you want on your side in a street fight, cause he wont' stop till someone is dead.

Drake 07-07-2009 09:40 PM

Jon Jones is the future imho. He is explosive, awesome wrestling, and he's got knock out power. It's only a matter of time for him to get the big fights.

Pitbull has awesome take down defense, and is a brown belt in BJJ. He can stand up after being taken down, he's shown it with his past fights.

My brothers, I would like to impart that GSP was bigger than Penn. GSP manhandles everyone.

GSP has never fought a STRIKER of Pitbull's caliber, who has great take down defense, good Jiu Jitsu, and always gets back up.

And MOST IMPORTANT... Walks around at 205+lbs daily.

That is all. :)

ATT 4 LIFE OOOSSSSUUUUU PEACHYBULL!!!

Mir will get crushed by Lesner!! I like Mir, but Brock is a fucking freak that has a crazy work ethic. I know who he has been flying in to help him get ready. He has zero distractions and has cinder blocks for hands. 6X large gloves he wares. That guy clipped Randy just with his thumb and it stun him.

What game plan do you employ? Brock wont be on his back!

Lesner is a new breed of super athlete, this is the future and he is here now, pounding people.

I am no fan of the guy, i dont even like him but my buddy Eric Paulson is training him, he brought in Rigan Machado to work with him and they fly in monsters from around the world to get him sharp. What i get as info is 1st hand from his trainers. And they said "there is nothing like this guy".

Lesner 2 round KO!!! It will happen so fast and so brutally that the ref wont have time to stop it!!

Thomas1007 07-07-2009 11:05 PM

should be a great fight.
Alves with his standup and GSP on the ground.
GSP wins, in the second imho.
:2 cents:

I will concede that I am biased. After nearly 4 years at American Top Team, it was my family, will always be. But we cannot discount that Pitbull is the number one contender and has destroyed everyone they have put in front of him. That highlight reel were his last 6 fights, and he destroyed everyone.

He has the heart, and the will to win, and HE WILL BRING THE BELT BACK HOME TO FLORIDA! My only regret is that I am not there to celebrate the first UFC Belt won by American Top Team with them.

But I WILL BE IN VANCOUVER CANADA WITH MY ATT SHIRT ON MAKING SURE EVERY CANADIAN WHEREVER I'M AT KNOWS WHO'S TAKING THE BELT HOME SATURDAY NIGHT!!! :)

Yes that is the guy. I know him very well. Awesome guy to have on your side. I lived in Delray from 04-08. He is a fucking nut!

evildick 07-09-2009 04:06 PM

Did anyone else see the interview with GSP where he "admitted" he did cheat in the BJ Penn fight.... by saying he hired that creepy guy in the audience to walk up and kiss BJ on the cheek when he was entering?

I laughed my ass off. At first I thought he was going to admit to greasing, then he came out with that line. :1orglaugh

edit: found it:

Vjo 07-09-2009 05:22 PM

That is gonna be a great fight. These top Brazilian fighters are in another league lately. Thiago may come out too strong for GSP. If it goes longer it favors GSP I would think. Gonna be a good one.

This is about how I feel. I dont like lesnar at all. But hes a barrel of fucking dynamite...

Mir has to be very careful because he wont be able to do what he did last time wqith lesnar, Lesnar is much more trained than he was then and thats all that lost that fight for him, inexperience. Dont get me wrong, mir is good. But he will be lucky to take the belt.

Vjo 07-09-2009 05:34 PM

Ya know I want to say Lesnar won't lose twice but Mir sure slapped some technique on him first time. So who knows. He was pummeling Mir the first time for almost what 45 seconds then suddenly bang leg lock! Over.

But I guess I'll take Lesnar and GSP.

Because to beat GSP now days you have to be good. I'm not sold YET on Thiago. :)

Jim_Gunn 07-09-2009 05:39 PM

Mir looked so good in that Nogueira fight. I watched the countdown show on Spike the other day and I love the comeback story. I am rooting for him against the monster Brock Lesnar.

You have to take in mind that was Lesnar's 2nd or 3rd fight ever in the ufc and was not trained for shit...

He didnt know about defending his legs/feet..

Ive watched in his other fights since that the fight with Mir taught him a huge lesson.

I would like to See Mir win though :thumbsup

Yep you may be right. I wouldn't bet against Lesner. But Mir has looked good in the last couple fights, I believe he is around 30 and coming into his prime and seems to take punishment well and cooly as witnessed in the first explosion Lesner made on him. Plus he is a damn good technical fighter and just a damn good fighter. Reminds me a little of a younger Ken Shamrock.

Agreed, lots of folks will root against a guy who makes a rock hard 265 weight. He's a local MN boy so I have to be in his corner. Like you said a keg of dynomite though who may kick some upcoming butt as well for quite some time.

its your emotions bro. you have your money on wrong guy.

Vjo 07-09-2009 07:56 PM

I was sure Muscle Sherk would out Muscle BJ Penn a few fights back too. And BJ basicly just had too much technical know how and new how to fight with defense ect.

Look at Machida and that wack style that keeps winning. Some guys just know how to fight. And knowledge does seem king in fighting.

Vjo 07-09-2009 08:12 PM

And lets not forget Randy Couture stopping Tim Silvia. I would of bet money Randy was going the way of Chuck Liddell. And Randy Schooled Tim then knocked him out for petes sake. (Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that is correct.)

Anthony, I will rooting for Thiago. I like his style and George has won enough. Gets boring. Plus in all honesty Brazilians have one at least 4 out of 5 of the fights against lets say "non Brazilians". So I would NOT bet against Thiago (too close to call or bet) but if I had to I would bet GSP with whatever spread just because I believe he is coming into his own and has looked very good last 4 fights or so.

But from where I sit, Go Thiago! :thumbsup

gecko 07-11-2009 08:52 PM

GSP wins by decision. He basically dominated every single round.

Mutt 07-11-2009 08:55 PM

wasn't even close. couldn't do anything to GSP even with GSP pulling his groin.

Canada 1 Brazil 0

The answer, Alves had not.

AAB 07-11-2009 11:00 PM

What? Am I reading this right? That's got to be the biggest joke in history of MMA. Alves has nothing on GSP. Not even in his dreams.

Phil 07-11-2009 11:10 PM

Anthony.. I told you so.
