I grew up with him in the jackson 5, and being the 5th son of a large family also, I felt I could relate to him in that way even. But for petes sake, I dont know how any of these so-called news outlets can go for 14 days like this about him as nearly the sole topic of discussion.

I've personally been making an effort to avoid coverage since the saturday after his death. It just feels ghoulish.

I think its ghoulish no matter who it is. I hate going to funerals for people I actually had in my life and loved. Why would I want to go to a funeral or memorial for someone I had never met?
The only thing I exclude from that are memorials for events like 9/11

Watched the entire memorial. It's the first time I've turned on the TV since his death, since I knew what to expect. The memorial was well done, if slightly over the top. Time to move on now (though networks are going to milk it for a few more weeks).

I didn't really take it that way. To me, she was up there with the rest of the family, and was determined that she wanted to say something about her daddy.

I think she's old enough that her wishes should have been honored.

My son suddenly lost his great-grandfather who he was *extremely* close to. The boy was 11 then. And he insisted on, and did a beautiful job of, speaking for about 10 minutes at the service about what his grandpa had meant to him.

His girl was very emotional, when she cried ... That Shaheen guy from Britain sounded a bit like Michael Jackson when he was a kid, he will have a bright future for sure. And Jermaine Jackson still has very nice voice, I wish I could hear him more! Nice memorial for a true music legend!
