Fuck: Seperated Shoulder.

Okay that fucking hurts like hell. Oh mighty god of Percocet, I shall worship thee.

Did you need to get it popped back in place? Or just major swelling and soreage?

JimmiDean 07-07-2009 04:34 AM

Played 11 years of football.
Four seperations, the pain is unbearable not to mention the nausea that comes with it.
I feel for you dude.

Dislocated my shoulder once while horse back riding. The horse tripped over an exposed branch and I flew off. Majorly painful. Worse part was my sister and I had skipped church to go horse back riding early and to avoid getting in trouble I had to wait until we would have been getting back if we had gone to church first.

I dislocated mine a dozen times each time more painful than the last and each time less and less impact was required to separate it, the final blow was when I sneezed while puttin my arm in my shirt in the morn... had the join rebuilt and now have screws and stuff holding it all together.

The was the worst pain I could imagine, worse than a good kick in the ballz.

mine would pop out of the socket and the joint bone would slide down and feel like it was digging into my ribs... fucking horrible.. and if you let the nausia get you and had to puke, the movement & strain from puking just made the pain much worse and made me lose consciousness.

Best of luck.

WebairGerard 07-07-2009 10:07 AM

yeah hurts bad. was lucky that mine popped back in pretty much on it's own.

I hope you feel better soon.

Meeper 07-07-2009 10:27 AM

I separated my shoulder crashing on a jump w/ my dirtbike. Do you know what degree it was? I think mine was a type 5, bone almost popped through the skin. Shit hurt more than I could put into words.

WarChild 07-07-2009 10:31 AM

Thanks for the well wishes guys.

It was a fluke occurence, got sweapt in Jiu Jitsu and the new gym at our new school doesn't have proper mats yet so we're using puzzle mats. Best I can tell they seperated at a seam and my shoulder smashed in to one of the sides.

Dislocation and shoulder seperation are not the same thing. Dislocation is when the ball comes out of the socket joint. Seperation is tendons damaged in the two bones that meet to form the other joint of the shoulder.

This is a level 2 seperation the Doctor said although I don't really know what the different levels are. I do know it hurts like fuck.

San 07-07-2009 10:32 AM

cool story, bro

Meeper 07-07-2009 10:38 AM

Ouch. Yea separations are WAY worse than dislocations too.

Here's the different levels:

http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/shou...separation.htm

Type I Shoulder Separation:
A type I shoulder separation is an injury to the capsule that surrounds the AC joint. The bones are not out of position and the primary symptom is pain.

Type II Shoulder Separation:
A type II shoulder separation involves an injury to the AC joint capsule as well as one of the important ligaments that stabilizes the clavicle. This ligament, the coracoclavicular ligament, is partially torn. Patients with a type II separated shoulder may have a small bump over the injury.

Type III Shoulder Separation:
A type III shoulder separation involves the same type of injury as a type II separated shoulder, but the injury is more significant. These patients usually have a large bump over the injured AC joint.

Type IV Shoulder Separation:
A type IV shoulder separation is an unusual injury where the clavicle is pushed behind the AC joint.

Type V Shoulder Separation:
A type V shoulder separation is an exaggerated type III injury. In this type of separated shoulder, the muscle above the AC joint is punctured by the end of the clavicle causing a significant bump over the injury.

Type VI Shoulder Separation:
A type VI shoulder separation is also exceedingly rare. In this type of injury the clavicle is pushed downwards, and becomes lodged below the corocoid (part of the scapula)

I remember when the doctor x-rayed me he said that was by far the worst separation he had ever seen. It sucked cause he said I either could let it heal and just have it hurt when I use it excessively or get surgery on it and maybe not get full use of it again. Good luck healing up, separations are nasty injurys.

Phoenix 07-07-2009 11:51 AM

shit hope it heals up

guy that plays basketball with us...had his come out the other week

he just put his hand up to catch a pass..and whammo..sounded gross when it happened..lol

BradM 07-07-2009 11:58 AM

I have a dislocated shoulder right now and that's bad enough. I can't imagine separating it.

justsexxx 07-07-2009 01:40 PM

Wow I once had my arm diclocated( I know it's different:)) But never never had so much pain. At the location I got murphine from the doctor, and he pulled it back right away. It was within 15 minutes I think. I am now so happy he did it like that, because after 6 months, I could do everything again. Now 4 years later and never had a dislocation anymore. However, sometimes when I fall, I still think 'oh no, is it dislocated :))

kane 07-07-2009 01:46 PM

That sucks. I just strained a shoulder really badly once and it hurt like hell and I actually had to do some physical therapy to heal from it. I can't imagine what that feels like.

Will you have to have surgery?
